What if your 33

So what happens if this witch erases 34 year olds when your 33 and then the following year she goes down to 33 but your now 34 do you beat the odds. Or is this a loop hole in the story arc. I am curious if this will be explained. I mean you have to suspend some belief of reality when watching movies or playing games anyway so not complaining just curious.

I've been wondering the same. The mechanic doesn't seem to work if you think about it, and I hope there's some backstory to explain it

It may well be a loophole. Not as big as the loophole that would let you be 33 on the day she paints 34 and 34 on the day she paints 33 without at any point having your age match the number she's painted.

There is no loophole: we've been told as much. You can't dodge the Paintress' culling.

I mean presumably it means anyone older than 33. The paintress had to start somewhere and I somehow doubt it was however old the oldest human alive was.

No it's always 33 and ABOVE or whatever she paints. So if you are 33 or older you will go away,

I think one is fine when they are 33 and the number is just set to 34. But as soon as one turns 34 during the year, they are erased immediately. So there is no loophole. Unless someone is over 101 years old at the beginning.

Pretty sure it’s a bit flexible. If you’re 33 when it turns 34, but you’d turn 34 the next day, you essentially get a full year. (There’s a guy hiding in a trash can who had the unfortunate luck to be born exactly on that day)

It's been even said in the trailers: The paintress (or whatever doing this) is deleting everyone that age _and up_. So no "got lucky, survived" anomalies possible.

I think the Gommage happens only once a year. Being born just on that day may give one extra year but that's not that much in the greater scale of things...

Yup, the max you could get out of it is 364 "extra" days if your birthday is a day before the gommage.
But thats it.
