I guess yes, but Bethesda just shadowdropping Oblivion Remastered are just crazy.

Oblivion will probably harm sales in the short term (because as much as people like to think otherwise, there is still a fairly significant amount of overlap between the two demographics) but games like this tend to have a fairly long tail of success.

It's odd to me, but maybe its just how I am. But I have been looking forward to playing this for months, and though I am a huge fan of the elder scrolls, I am not going to just drop my interest in this for oblivion.

Oblivion is shiny but it's an obvious cash grab, unoptimized and underneath it's still clunky Bethesda junk. Outside of the DNA boys, people will get bored with its outdated gameplay and move on

This game is a single player game that meat to be sell for long term. It's not a live server game that require constant cash to stay alive. This game already gone gold a month ago and will still be selling on every platform for the next 10 years. Therefore, it is never too late for anybody to pick up this game period.

Personally think many might be over blowing it a tad and giving them higher than possibly deserved. Don't get me wrong, interesting concept from an unusual team and story with some good writing and va work, totally down for that.
What I'm less down for is a possibly 20ish hour rpg for 50 some bucks that has paper mario mechanics stapled on top of the traditional turn based combat with slimmed down equipment and other aspects to streamline it possibly a bit too hard for my liking as an rpg lover.
I'll probably be waiting on this one and pick it up when it's at a better price, not sure what I'm seeing is screaming to me great value.

It's more like 60 hours: multiple sources have suggested it's about 30 hours for the campaign, with another 30 or so for the side-content + Platinum/100% completion. Not sure where your "20ish" estimate is coming from. And while specifically your weapon-equipment doesn't seem all that interesting in terms of a progression system, if I'm being honest, it's not the main one at all. Picos, Luminas, skill points, stat points; those are what make your builds.

Do you even play rpgs? Saying the equipment you use to make builds for your characters in an rpg isn't interesting kinda tells me you don't play them much at all.
As such, I'm a little wary of taking what you have to say on the subject with any amount of weight given that fact.
Been playing various kinds of rpgs for 30 years, I have my likes and dislikes, I don't really need someone else telling me what they think their preference is on a genre I'm well enough in understanding and enjoying. Good day.
