Why did Microsoft kill Clair Obscur? (they paid for gamepass release)
I'm a little confused why Microsoft more or less has gutted what I expect will be a lot of sales for this game by shadow dropping Oblivion two days ahead of its release considering its mostly the same type of fans (rpg) that will be interested. Especially considering there isn't a lot of upcoming RPG in the next few weeks - so why release TWO, TWO days apart instead of separating them but at least 2 weeks.

For those who are about to reply, its not a microsoft game - you are correct HOWEVER microsoft has paid to have this game launch on gamepass which means according to industry sources microsoft pays a LOT of money

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: Estimated at $300 million
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League: Estimated at $250 million
Mortal Kombat 1: Estimated at $250 million
Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Estimated at $100 million
Gotham Knights: Estimated at $50 million
Dying Light 2: Estimated at $50 million

now yes these are top games but even bottom games are estimated to be paid "Return to Monkey Island: Estimated at $5 million" which is insane for an adventure game (very small market even with name like Monkey island will actually engage with it)

Regardless of what you might think, thats still an investment to get people to PLAY/PAY for gamepass and your not going to pay a company if you plan to cut its legs out UNLESS for some reason Oblivion release date was locked in for spring 2025 and they wanted to support the devs without telling htem about a close release date?

I dunno, I just find it weird, why pay for something when you know its potential player base will now be buying/playing something else?

The ONLY reason I can think of - maybe because they hope RPG fans will pay for gamepass to get both for 10 a month?

I've purchased both and going to play both because Oblivion was great back in 2006 and this game seems very promising to me.

I will/have too but going back to another topic I made - I can't play both at the same time instantly creating a new game for my "back log" - and yes I'll paly both but i dont know when ill get to clair now since ill want to finish/play oblivion for the most part since its what im starting with.

Which also goes back to why cut the legs out - by releasing it sooner, players will be preoccupied with it first...delaying sales for EXp33 as not everyone is g oing to buy 2 game like this at the same time, full price and other various reasons..

You could focus on Clair Obscur first, the victim in this scenario, instead of supporting Bethesda. Oblivion came out eons ago.
MS is stupid as it pertains to gaming. Nothing it seems will ever change that

Ok so when should they have released Oblivion? What date would have been 'fair' to every other game out there?

May? Heck 2 weeks later? There is literlaly no other rpg's being released in next 4 weeks. Why release the next two biggest RPG titles 2 days apart when both are supported by microsoft?

For microsofts part it would encourage users to pay for NEXT months game pass to paly oblivion. Like this is common marketing practice - business 101.
