Yeah, not illegal.
Just sketchy lmao.

Yeah, it was them saying Fanatical was giving the 20% discount (are they a legit reseller...?):
https://gamerant.com/clair-obscur-expedition-33-rpg-steam-pre-order-discount-sale/
But uh... yeah the person mentioning 28% off is where I got mine also as a fellow Aussie.
Grey markets are fences. A lot of the keys they buy are illegal (stolen credit card fraud, resellers from other regions, etc) but they don't ask questions so they can say their noses are clean, which is TECHNICALLY true.
So you're hurting the devs either way by buying from grey markets, even if they can whistle while covering their eyes. Thankfully, the illegal parts of them have been cracked down on harder.
Just buy from an authorized reseller, they buy directly from the devs/publishers who make the same amount of money from you as they do on Steam.
Green man gaming is offering 28% if you're a gold member from buying from them previously and Fanatical is offering 20%. Both are authorized resellers.
Steam moderation and forums have gotten real bad
The entire system literally only works because of Valve's deliberate choices. I'm pretty sure you were banned for another reason or a new mod who misunderstood what you were doing or linking.
Because I've seen plenty of posts involving Fanatical, GMG, Games Bilet, etc and have done plenty myself without zero issue.
