Game looks awesome, let me just catch up on other 500+ games I own. Is this just me?
Ya some of these replies seem...angry, I was just saying I enjoy games and should note I DO buy games I want to play or begin to play - i dont "collect games". I can actually spend hours deciding if i want to buy a game, looking at tons of footage and heck, even when I do buy the odd game on sale I dont like i refund it. So my library is mostly made up of a. games i want and have finished, b. games i want and havent finished c. a back log of games I tried, liked but havent been able to paly because im playing other games.

i totally agree its not good to "just finish games" - thats not fun. and thats PART of the problem indirectly - where in i relaly enjoy a lot of the games I play and dont stop playing them - which means I end up playing my favorite games wirthout giving new games more time.

Aaaanyway im not complaining, i was simply asking if OTHER people have this issue and what they do.

In the case of this game I will most likely play it asap when I get it, I dont actually have any games on the go (other than 4x games but those are endless lol) and like some said in reply buy what you feel the vibe to play right now.

I gave up on my backlog years ago. So I don't have this problem.

but than how do you prevent yourself from just adding more games to it - like right now I have about 10 games on my wishlist I WANT - and could buy - but who knows whne ill actually play t hem because im plying other games before i can or want to get to it (to give it proper attention)

Not to mention new dlc releasing for other games I DO own I want to go back to and well...i dunno...it just feels endless.

I'm not sure what the complaint is here. The company made a game....you can either buy it or not. It's not on them if you also buy a lot of other things and don't have time to play it all.
I play what I buy right away which results with no creating a new backlog.

I feel bad for devs I guess, its not a complaint at all. Its a remorse - a remorse that I dont have time or ability to really enjoy all these games at once. That I wont be able to help that "every important" first month user engagement these studios rely so heavily on to justify to corporate their success. I dunno I just feel bad, because this is a g ame really made for me and I just dont know when i'll play it. so remorse for that too.

thats not a complaint. Not everything on the steam forums is lol.

i have so many games on the back burner with a dedicated "completed games" folder in steam catalogue.. whopping 7 games in it O.o
What a joke. The world does not revolve around you. This is the studio's first game. Game studios make games. Don't buy so many crappy games if you have a backlog problem.
I buy game, finish it 100% and move to another. Meanwhile playing Once Human or other live service game.
Recently finished Ai Limit, so I am ready for this game)
I think, best experience to play - from launch.
I still have enough great games that I want to buy, but they can wait.

The solution would be not buying more games, just buy the one that you want really bad and will play it right after purchasing it.
im having EXACTELY the same feeling and exactly the same situation like you +-900 games.
I pre ordered the game neverless and im going full into it.

My backlog.. well even its like a chainball at my feet, i will leave it like that.

What realy helps is that according to PC Gamer 97% of Steam gamers are playing older games.

Those influencers and Social media content creators are lonely in that, that they MUST play new games, if not they become irrelavant for their sponsors.

Not us.

So high five for you OP you and me are the same.

Stop buying new games and give up on the idea of "clearing a backlog."

You'll enjoy video games way more, trust me.

Never got the "backlog" thing. I generally don't buy a game unless I want to play it in the near future. The only exception being big sales, but even then I'm probably going to at least start it.

If I don't play/finish a game, it's not because I'm waiting to get round to it. It's because I'm just not that into it and will likely never go back to it. So if a new game comes along that looks interesting to me, I'll just start playing it straight away (or when the price is appealing enough at least).

There plenty of games I've gotten on Steam Sales that I want to play eventually for 75-90% off which leads to like $5 to buy which isn't much.

For example, Tales of Zestria I got on Steam Sale due to playing Beseria which is the prequel, but it is not nearly the priority I would have compared to what's coming out such is Expedition 33, Hundred Line Defense, and I bought Romancing Saga 2 remake which is also in the backlog but I want to play it more than Zestria so I anticipate getting to it sometime this summer.

I think the time aspect is the main thing. I have a full time job and can't beat games which are mostly RPGs in the time frame before another game that is high on my list comes out. Hell this fall I have the Trails in the Sky remake and Trails in the Horizon coming out which are top 2 priority no matter what I'm playing at the time.

Just don't buy games that you don't intend to play within the next few weeks. I never have backlog.
People who genuinely like videogames play whatever they want and don't believe in the idea of "backlogs".
Backlogs are basically treating games as a job, as a list of "to do" tasks rather than something you do for leisure.
