This looks woke. is it woke?
We're seeing an interesting dynamic where the protagonist squad is mostly badass women, with the token guy being more of a soft-spoken type, so I'm worried it might be woke. Anyone know?

17 trillion topics about this already, and you're littering the forum instead of just using the search bar.

But that's okay. Every time one comes up from now on, I'm posting this:

DEI agendas are stupid.

This reactionary paranoia to them is equally stupid.

So you get how DEI and woke stuff is cringey asf, now be real with me - is this game just pandering to woke culture?

Search bar is on the right, below the (un)subscribe to discussion button and above "Your Forum Account."

Nothing shocking about that; in Japanese anime, the hero is always shy and frail and then becomes a badass.

If the developers are fans of Japan, they just copied that.

Plus, Gustave is the main character; of course, he'll become a badass (let's not forget that he lost his wife, so he's emotionally damaged).

Yeah because anime is made by the Japanese, who lack 'woke culture,'
Western attempts to adapt it often end up being counterproductive.

The problem is that you think a strong woman is woke and a weak man shouldn't exist in video games, when there have always been weak or reserved men.

If that's all I personally wouldn't call it a woke game.
I personally recognized woke games from the first trailer (avowed , concord..)
there's nothing woke about this game.

The Japanese are just as woke as Westerners. There are quite a few trans/gay people in Japanese manga and anime.

I’m not saying male characters in games can’t be vulnerable. I’m specifically referring to a male protagonist, especially when placed in an all-female main cast. This game is clearly targeted toward women, which usually ends up killing off traditional masculinity. We’ve seen way too much of this in modern games, and that’s exactly why I see it as woke.

This game has six characters in total: three women, the main character, a monster, and a secret character (I think it's Verso, another man).

he's not the only man in the game; Verso and Renoir are already badass.

the character can evolve throughout his adventure, which will likely be the case (in the demo, only Gustave's talents were blocked).
While the other characters weren't, I think the story will be heavily focused on him.

I don't know what kind of stuff you're watching, but you need to broaden your horizon.

can someone please tell me wtf is wrong with society where we have to have a million posts about "DEI agendas" and "woke culture" Like being inclusive to others who are not straight white men is a bad thing?

The funniest thing is that all the characters are white, the women are very beautiful, and the main character is a man.

And they still manage to say it's WOKE.

And thats the worst part - you can still be woke with attractive characters depending on how you portray them.

From what I've seen so far, the game doesnt convincingly demonstrate this balance. At the very least, the seemingly weak-willed male protagonist and the girlboss-style female lead (as presented in the trailer) fail to convince me that there's no deliberate push for a political agenda here.
