French preview :
Bad points according to him :
-Technically disappointing (some visual bugs, sloppy texture, frame rate)
-Linear Exploration
-Dialogue not deep enough
-Fear of redundancy in exploration and enemies
-Fear that the fighting is too redundant
Good points according to him :
-Fight mecanics
-Design
-Musique

All the other previews I've seen or read (French or English) are good or very good. Even if everyone says it was only a few hours (hours of fun), it's promising, but let's wait for the full game and see if it will stay fun until the end :
The positive points that I was able to note on all the previews (mainly French) :
-Music
-Design and Graphics, the biomes, atmosphere
-The map looks quite big
-Fight mecanics and dodge system (dynamic aspects)
-Teambuilding, synergy of skills
-The linear aspect to some extent (as opposed to the abundance of open worlds and the ambition of the game itself)
-Overworld and camping
Fears :
-Precisely, that it is too linear (exploration)
-Fun, but will it remain interesting until the end ? (story, exploration, overworld, gameplay loops)
Negative points :
-Technically (some visual bugs, sloppy texture, blurry, frame rate)
-Lip sync
-Interface could be improved (even if it remains clear and beautiful)
-Characters too slow in the overworld
It's a build and not necessarily the final product (I'm talking mainly about the technical aspect which can, could, could be refined)
"-Fear that the fighting is too redundant" How is this in the cons and then right under it in the pro's go:
"-Fight mechanics"
Either it's too redundant and bad or it's fun. It cannot possibly be both.
"We like the more linear style and it has a big world." but at the same time "It's too linear." Which is it? How can I trust a reviewer(s) who have the subject on both ends of the spectrum.
The other argument is "it's fun but lets see if it's fun to the end?". What is with that type of review? That's like somebody who plays 200 hours of a game and give it a negative review because they get tired of playing. You played 200 hours it's ok to get tired of playing.
I am all for critiques and some of the comments I can appreciate at the objective view, but I truly feel "game reviewers" don't process what they are saying anymore or put it to logic.
I took the liberty of formulating the points this way, summarizing the various previews. Testers highlight qualities where others see flaws. And even when there are strengths, they remained contained because it was just a demo.
We can appreciate the combat mechanics, but after five hours, they may start to feel repetitive and dull. I don’t see the issue with that—especially if the bestiary doesn’t expand later on.
Some players enjoyed the game’s linearity because it aligns with its ambitions and what it aims to offer, standing in contrast to the current oversaturation of open-world games.
On the other hand, some rightly pointed out their concern that it might be too linear, to the detriment of exploration.
Finally, I disagree as well. You can play for 15 hours, only to realize that the plot hasn’t offered anything new for the last 10, and that the gameplay remains unchanged. Fatigue sets in. I experienced this with Hogwarts Legacy and, more recently, Aloft (different types of games, of course).
You can not like aspects of a game and still enjoy it as a whole. Rarely will anything be perfect. However, making contradicting statements about the same subject in a review will not give me a load of confidence in that opinion.
Off subject; I am a fan of developer curated public demos as it allows an individual to make up their own mind in the limited game-play experience if they will enjoy the core loop.
