e.g. the paint workshop or the one on the beach
am doing a maelle solo run...
my main problem is getting the jump direction right - have no clue how to aim
So if the jump is short, don't press or hold the sprint button, just normal jump. If the jump is long even if you're on a small platform, hold or press the sprint button and jump at the same time, there's no running start to it, so don't overthink it. The jumping portions become really easy with this knowledge. As someone else said, watch for when the character will roll, but mostly just stay away from landing near edges, plus you can still steer the character while they're rolling. I use Lune so Maelle isn't required for this.
For any of the trickier mechanics I used Maelle, as she has a smaller model and I found it easier to judge. Monooco & Verso and the like would fill up my screen (I have a small monitor). If you have a large monitor you can disregard this last bit of advice maybe?
