Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Hard to play other games after finishing this one.
I was personally blown away by this game.
Gameplay and story wise.

But I can’t play other games now. Most games feel so bland with bad music, sound effects, trash story and story telling. Also waste of time fillers just for the sake of making some games artificially longer.

Have anybody else have similar experience?

You could try Sea of Stars, it's an RPG that resonated with me personally. It's got a surprising amount of depth and emotional weight to it, but I don't know if it'll live up to Expedition 33's highs and lows.

After I finished my 100% run at over 100 hours, I just deleted all my saves & started fresh because I need more of this in my veins. This is not the first game for which I do this of course, but it is extremely rare.

I was in the middle of Yakuza 4 & loving it when I tried this. Just can't resume. Maybe it's time to finally resume Doom TAG2? Turbo Overkill? FF9? Ultros? So many good games abandoned halfway.

Why delete your save though? The game gives you like 5 separate NG save slots

Yep, this game, BG3 and Nier:Automata were my gaming highlights so far. After that lots of games just felt empty and bland for a while. But worry not, you will find genres you like where no such pivotal games stand out and Indy games will always be there too, with fresh takes, sometimes ;P

Yup, going to get 100% achievements, do a victory lap in NG+ and then restart because I just can’t get enough.

Praying that they add some more content down the road.
Have you played Nier: Automata? You should play Nier: Automata.

I found this game to play in a manner very, very similar to South Park: The Stick of Truth :slotheart:

Getting back into BG3. I will NG+ this eventually but I wanted to move onto other games for now.

Incredible experience though, I would put this game in my top 10 all time. Something very special was created here, and I am happy to have experienced it.

I did on PS4. Good music and OK gameplay but the story and acting doesn’t reach level of E33 in my opinion.
I see lots of Nier recs. While Nier Automata is considerably more serious than the average anime game, it's still very anime and beats you over the head with its themes and messages. Subtlety and nuance are some of the things that the Japanese writers haven't learned yet, sadly.

Just play Baldur's Gate 3, it's the closest.

BG3 beats you a lot more over the head with its themes and messages than Nier Automata lol. You probably don't feel it because its ideas hit a lot closer to home for you, but to me, BG3 is slop storywise compared to nier and this ? ^^''
Automata has a lot of nuances lol.

I really dislike CPRG. Branching story and rng fighting in BG3 is not for me. Characters look cool but the story is not inviting.
I’ve finished Witcher 3 on ps4 but didn’t have that much fun with it. Too many slow moments and uber dull gameplay even on the hardest difficulty. I understand these are fantastic games but not for me personally.

On the other hand I’ve really enjoyed Returnal for its story and gameplay. Not an RPG though.

Post Expedition 33 Syndrome. Now you need therapy to be happy again with overpriced AAA-AAAAA junk. I'm still in NG+ and hope Sandfall delivers new material as soon as possible :tabbycat:

Huh I would rate the games exactly inverse, Nier:Automata actual plot is extremely subtle while BG3 hammers you over the head with irrelevant garbage (The entire Slug/Guardian/Balduran plotline could be removed and you'd never even be able tell), and has bad writing and plotting for the 3rd act which is a deadly sin that affects all Larian games for some reason.

Same. I tried Chronicles: Hundred heroes, but it feels strange after playing Clair Obscur. The dialog in that game has been butchered for English as well. I booted up Football Manager as it pleases me. My comfortsave. Pondering to continue Hundred Heroes or wait for the DLC of Sea of Stars which will release tomorrow, as I bet my 100% will be poofed because it will release new achievements. For more Clair Obscur I can recommended Final Fantasy X and Lost Odyssey. Also Blue Dragon to some degree.
