So back in the day we had these games that were "slow burns", where you don't get overpowered quickly and you actually have to think about how to play the game.

It goes however you decide it will go. If you decide to look up a glass cannon build and build for that, you're going to demolish things. If you take your time and explore, you will be rewarded. How you play the game is entirely up to you, but speed running to get damage and 1 tap things will drain what enjoyment is to be had with this game, as games of this quality and caliber do not come around often.

If you don't like it, refund before 2 hours. All games are not made for everyone, and not everyone has to enjoy every game. For me, and many others, its game of the year 2025.

When was back in the day? Back in the day for me, I feel like games just threw you into the action with barely any story or world-building at all. Don't get me wrong, I love slow burn starts if they are done well, but I feel like that is much more of a modern thing, than a back in the days thing.
I'd say the game goes pretty quick. You can finish in like 24-40 hours.
I'm surprised, this game has one of the best openings I've seen in a long time. I suppose gameplaywise it's a little light, but narratively speaking it's a really strong hook. If that isn't enough to keep you going than this just isn't the game for you. There are plenty of games that are not focused on story and ready to dump you into the action asap. I would recommend looking for one of them.

You don't need to talk down to me homie. I'm limited on gaming time lately and just wanted some information.
An hour into it you should have had two major "what" moments in the cinematics and be well into the first zone, maybe even approaching the first boss. Sounds like either you're taking the game at a slow pace (in which case it's "picking up" just as quickly as you're moving) or it's just not the game for you.
