Squaretrash needs to learn a lesson from this game.

ff7 remake was easily the worst remake in the history of gaming. it's note even close.

I'd look at it this way, once Clair passes FF sales (And it seemingly already has) their board is going to have something they haven't had before in regard to turn based, fiduciary responsibility. They'll have to re-examine their stance on the "no turn based" crap they've done thanks to Clair's success. Persona got close but not enough to raise a fiduciary responsibility concern. Clair has put a price on Turn based JRPGs again. Higher than FF.

Remake was good, but Rebirth was trash. The open world was just so boring.

Remake was a good game, I loved it. Rebirth was such a grind.

not sure if i agree but i enjoyed my time none the less, i think ff7(remakes) being more action based was more enjoyable for me.
I refused to play FF7R for the longest time, because I had heard the dialogue about Cloud's balls, and I was afraid they would ruin the legacy. (Possibly a stupid reason.) But also, I hear the gameplay is top notch. E33 on the other hand, it has amazing dialogue at every turn imo.

Gameplay was repetitive trash. All you have to do is button mash/spam attack and not have to do anything else and you win every match. No strategy involved at all.

i mean all i do here is firewall->earth spike->harmony my way to victory if i haven't won yet so, arguing repetitive isn't the best argument when a turn based game is on board.

having a solid gameplay loop that doesn't vary much doesn't just mean its bad.

That... isn't true. You can't really beat FF7R without using skills, it's not balanced around the normal attacks.

FF7R without skills would be like E33 with guns only, and guns get significantly stronger than FF7's attack spam
my only problem with FF7 R was the unnecessary padding with annoying animations...open a chest - watch animation, sit down on bench - watch animation etc etc. other wise it was a good game

Rebirth is amazing, but completely dropped the ball on story.
Also centering the games on the casino area and minigames is a disaster IMO.
The minigames are annoying and nobody cares to do this BS.
They should have combined part 2 and 3 in a single game.

And yes the story is absolute nonsense.
You go through the entire game and it feels like you're doing tourism rather than follow a coherent storyline. Which I guess is what happens in Act 2 of the OG, but they didn't have to copy the OG that hard.

I liked part 1 for what it was (despite deep flaws).
But Rebirth was ultra mid story wise, I honestly can't bring myself to play it again, and only played it so i can then play part 3 and understand what's going on.

But I'm worried about part 3. The writing is abysmal, like Disney level bad.

I adamantly disagree. I really like this game, but it's not close to the overall quality and scope of FFVII. And it's unfair to pit the two against each other like that.
