Max AP on turn start
Hey all, I'm in act 3 and going through The Reacher at the moment. I was fighting some enemies here and I would occasionally start battles with 9 AP on Monoco and Maelle.

Fast forward a little bit of time, I must have changed something because that's no longer the case. I have two Energizing Start pictos on everyone, but I'm not sure what I had before that let them start with that much AP. Does anybody have any ideas?

Energy Master or Energizing Turn would be my guess.
I noticed it would happen with my team as well. It could be Lumina set-up along with Monoco's weapon Bellaro? It gives AP on mask change and it affects party members.

That is reasonable but it would happen for me way back when I didn't have those Pictos.

Energising Power/Rush/Shell can combine with Auto Power/Rush/Shell to give +2 AP each. Energising Turn gives +1 on turn start, including the first turn. Up to 4 Energising Start luminas. Energy Master giving +1 whenever you gain AP from anything.

Some combination of those makes it actually pretty easy to start with 9 (considering you have a base of 3 plus 1 from turn starting, you only need another +5 total).

I always start with 9. Double AP from the flying dragon is a must.
Monoco can add extra depending of weapon and what’s on his wheel.

Pretty sure nobody is reading what the OP is saying.

I have also seen it happen occasionally where instead of starting battles with 4 or 5 AP, it would double and I'd start with 8 or 9 AP. I don't think I noticed it until maybe the Sirene area.
I can only assume there's a bug that triggers infrequently, maybe something to do with First Strike? It starts you first and gives you first turn and somehow gives you 2 starts worth of AP.
Honestly, I have absolutely no idea why it did it.

I also don't recall it ever stopping happening, it's just I eventually got the lumina to start with 9AP all the time.

Maybe one of the luminas that gives you AP on buffs, and then auto-applying the corresponding buff(s).

If not already mentioned, switching stances gives 1 AP, and weapons that start you on a certain mask/stance technically switches you to that one after combat starts, not before it.
An interesting synergy that I realised might be the cause of this confusion is: Beneficial Contamination is triggered via Inverted Affinity and this gives you +2 AP at the start of battle.

Also tested it works with Stalum which causes a self burn on Maelle, effectively +2 AP each turn.
