I enjoyed the mechanics of each party member even though it's just standard generator/spender stuff it was still nice to have a system for each charter.
If you don't care about the mechanics of a party member ultimately that is all you will be missing out on. And the fact that you won't have a backup.
And good luck doing that with unoptimized party members whose mechanics you dont really interacted with. Since this is the hardest boss in the game.
Apart from that you never need to switch.
