If you can't parry, build for it.
The skill of this game is either being good at parry or actually reading the Pictos and taking the obvious route to success.
is it even possible to parry vanish.. okay you can.
absolute worst case, watch a video after you've failed too often, in slow motion to get an idea.
guess it's also about finding good pictos, else it can be hard if you miss some.
I mean, I agree that the attacks are often designed to mislead you, but I'm not sure why you're saying that you can't learn them.
You might have to replay the same fight again once or twice, but do it enough times and you definitely learn the patterns. And once you've internalised them, then it becomes a cakewalk, since you can go through the whole fight without taking any damage at all. And of course you can adjust the difficulty up or down at any time.
Also don't forgot to use your pictos and luminas. They can give you a big edge in a fight.
Also good builds should be able to one or two shot them even with 9999 damage cap. Make sure you have good builds, enough colour of lumina spent on Maelle and all weapons at lvl19 (or higher if possible).
Something is not right if fights take so long.
