Devs: Please implement DOOM The Dark Ages like difficulty modifiers!
OK, maybe not something as elaborate, but it would be nice to be able to e.g. :
- enable imperfect dodge (incl. jump) and parry (e.g. change the damage taken from 0 to 0-100% with respective sliders for dodge and parry). For extra challenge!
- sliders to respectively adjust timings for dodge and parry
- sliders to respectively adjust damage taken and damage inflicted

The approach to difficulty customization taken by DOOM The Dark Ages is fantastic. Lots of options to tweak it to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone, from git-gud crowd to disabled player. I am playing on Nightmare (I like some challenge) with 90% speed (I got old and slow), and it's just perfect.

I agree 100%, but I think expert should stay as-is. Or they make a harder difficulty.

I personally think it's pretty dumb you can have difficulty modifiers for ultra-nightmare. But I'm totally fine with random modifers or whatnot for the other difficulties.

No you see because a game being enjoyable by more people is a horrible thing & you are a terrible person who will destroy gaming for suggesting it & if I didn't feel the need to tweak anything so it's obviously not a good idea for anyone to do it ever & you just need to git gud & you can just play on baby difficulty & you don't deserve this game etc etc, insert the usual ridiculous & obviously bad faith arguments here.

Stating the obvious time : the toxicity is the point. They don't really believe any of this nonsense. They're not that dumb, they're just little bullies looking for any excuse to be toxic & will settle on whatever they think best passes for an actual argument. Have a look at the DOOM Dark Ages board : they are there, whining that these options exist. I kid you not.

The git gud crowd is not "the reason why society thinks gamers are toxic brats" they are simply living proof a significant portion of gamers are in fact toxic brats. Public perception won't change until we deserve it. Like any other group for which crazy extremists taint the global image.

I do kind of wish there was a difficulty harder than Expert when starting a new game, but at least at the end of the game you do get a NG+ option that makes the game harder than Expert

Expert was only truly hard during the first few hours, but then maybe it got easier because I got used to parrying and managed to survive many hits. Still had a blast playing on Expert given the battles lasted longer and I got to hear the battle themes longer.

They can just add randomizer in.

- Enemies that deals like 250 damage that attacks 1000 times.
- Enemies would randomly explode on one of your party, which is a guaranteed kill.
- Super random attack patterns.
- Base attacks of enemies will add random debuffs
- Enemies gains random shields
- Random enemy spawns, which means you can have a lot of Super Powered Chromatics

So, on and so forth. They can do a lot with it.

Agree but more leaning towards harder....without NG+ 5 times

(For those not aware, yea every NG + makes the game harder, til maxing at the 5th time, thats a little absurd, let us max difficulty immediately)

Let us get the +150 levels on enemies out the gate (With some tweaks to their speed).

It's a parry/dodge or die at that point until getting better pictos, and if someone says that someone wouldn't do that I'd be calling major BS.

Guaranteed people would opt for that.
Wouldn't mind a damage cap of 999.999 either, I get there's a mod for that on PC but not if we got it on PS5 (not my first choice but I'm remote playing with wife during work)

They refused, because theyre souls veterans, when they play on the highest difficulty and get stomped, its a bad game
I think that's exactly why games like Dark Souls don't have a difficulty level at all. Because many other games degenerate with it, other people get the impression that a selectable difficulty level would be a problem.

I'd be grateful for a mode that offers assistance for those like me who are hard of hearing. I don't think that this an unreasonable request as there is a mode for those who are colour blind
I think they can do a bg3 and make 4 difficulty modes + custom so if you want to pick and choose which parts you want to change. Personally I'd love it if there was a choice to make it harder too.

The way it works in DOOM The Dark Ages is that there are several sliders, and each difficulty is a preset of the slider values.

For example, I selected Nightmare (which sets the sliders at various values), then changed the Game Speed to 90%

I assume that the difficulties in Clair Obscur are also made of combinations of various values, including Expert (nothing special with that mode, it's just one of 3 "presets", no need to change any of the existing difficulties).

It's just that the game does not expose sliders to modify those values from the preset values.
All I'm saying is that it would be nice if it did, so you can make the game easier/harder on respective parts of the combat system.

It would be an option. It does not take away anything that's already there.
I agree this would be nice, but not really any realistic chance of it happening, seeing as the game is fully released now.
Please do not use anything from flopped games :roboerror:
