A mix between Final Fantasy and Elden Ring
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one to have thought the same

Dark Souls, Nier, Final Fantasy has been my thoughts on a combo. Even some Attack on Titan themes.

Apparently their biggest inspiration is lost Odyssey, which nobody ever played (lol).
Pleased to see I'm not the only one seeing a very Elden Ringy inspiration in a lot of the environments and enemies. The big hand guys in particular look like they'd be at home in ER.

Pretty much exactly how the developers describe their game.

Of course it's an RPG at the core, but more FromSoftware inspiration for stuff like the defense system or even stats system or the battle design.

...

First, the game has a strong JRPG gameplay inspiration. It was conceived as a turn-based game from the beginning, influenced by Final Fantasy VIII, IX, and X in particular. Around the first iteration of the game, the game director was playing Sekiro at the same time, and he thought that the feeling of dodges and parries felt so good in From Software games, that's when we started to implement a more reactive, turn-based system in our own game. It has become a core component, especially to the defense system of the gameplay, and we began iterating on that to find the right balance.

There's a lot of inspiration from a variety of games in this, if you play lots of games, I think you see various influences everywhere. I also got lots of inspiration for the Dark tone of the game from FF16 (in which Ben Starr was also MC).

I hate how right you are, I loved that game and have been waiting for a pc port for years, along with blue dragon, and other jrpgs that were 360 exclusives. Emulating Lost Odyssey didn't work too well due to 360 emulators sucking in general.

But nobody I've talked with before ever heard of Lost Odyssey
umm maybe more like dragon age veilgard meets punch out
My first reaction was FFX, DS3 and Lies of P.
in wich aspect this reminds people of elden ring ? because parry and dodge or boss fight in general ? or how souls games in general fit in this round based game genre ?
Definitely FFX and Lost Odyssey more than anything. P mario for combat

The developers have stated numerous times in multiple interviews that the defense system, stats system, battle design, dodge, and parry are directly inspired by FromSoftware games, especially Sekiro.

They also mention other games, including Lost Odyssey, as inspirations. But only FromSoftware as influencing exact systems, design, and mechanics.

Other influences are present. But Final Fantasy and FromSoftware are the two biggest ones, according to the developers of their own game.
