[Spoiler] Grinding before boss battle possible?

I find it quite hard to fight Renoir with my current level on normal difficulty and I was wondering if there is a way to get back to the overworld map and level up a bit to be better prepared for this fight. To me it seems like I'm stuck in the area with the mansion unless I load a previous save. Can someone enlighten me with some knowledge?

frozen hearth, might fail few times, but once you get the easy parry checked ... after dying maybe even 10 times in a row you'll love it ... if you're referring to act2... else renoir's drafts

If you are talking about act2 when you can swim then you can find a big, ice rhino in the northern beach of ice area. The group drops lvl19 weapon upgrades and tons of XP at this point.

You can also get an upgrade to destroy spikes and backtrack to collect loot there. Spend some colour of Lumina on Maelle and stack up good lumina on her.

So, I'm not sure whether you gain experience for the party members currently not in your group. So if you're unable to load a previous save, you'll just have to grind up Maelle/Verso against all those caveliers.

my chars are only ~1-2level in difference and I hardly ever used the others
