Final Fantasy X is still the GOAT
FF X, considered the last true Final Fantasy, still stands the test of time my friends.

Do you like turned based jrpgs? Do you like great music? Do you like fantastic stories? Side Quests? Great characters? Awesome upgrade systems? Playing underwater soccer with no equipment that allows you to breath under water.....

This game is good, but it's not Final Fantasy X.

Final Fantasy X the best Sins of the Father Pinocchio story ever told.

I like it. But 7 and 8 are my favorites.
And potentially 9 but I never played it.

9 is worth playing if you enjoy the older Final Fantasy games. I forget their names but the OG lead Final Fantasy guy and Nobuo consider FF9 their best. I've read that somewhere.

FF9 is my favorite in the series and I always enjoy myself when I start it over.

eh, x was good but 8 is probably my favorite in the ps1-ps3 era. the suikoden 1&2 remaster were really well done too.

9 was fun but i wasn't a big fan of a bunch of the characters. not to the degree of 12 mind you, where i hated everyone so much i just couldn't keep playing. that and the card game was so restrictive and nowhere near as satisfying as triple triad.

FYI it's turn based, not "turned based".

Yeah I think it comes down (for me) whether I vibe with the setting/characters from the get go. FF12 for some reason I can't get into. From the beginning, I just don't get grabbed by the story like FF7, FF8, or FF10. It all feels a bit generic like anime Game of Thrones.

I did like FF10 very much, but I just vibed with the story less than FF7 and FF8, although the entire game is basically bigger, better, and the culmination of the PS1-PS2 and Playstation in general era of final fantasy. It's basically peak FF.

But FF7 and FF8 I liked because it starts as this very individual story with a brooding relatively mature character, and I guess at that point in my life I related a lot to it (FF8 being a student basically in on a campus was ultra relatable).

I'm glad it's a good game. Also glad it's not Final Fantasy, which lost the plot (literally and figuratively) after FF6. All the Final Fantasy games after that were shoddy.

Hopefully remakes of 8 & 9 (FF) are turn based thanks to the success of this game.
I think it's better in some ways and worse in others. This is, of course, my opinion:

Final Fantasy X wins in:
- Story (by a big margin)
- Balancing.

Expedition 33 wins in:
- Art Direction
- Music
- Characters (but not overall plot)
- Gameplay (highly subjective)
- - I prefer Clair Obscur's gameplay, but not by much. They're both very good. I like what COE33 did with the AP system, which I find vastly superior to the MP system, the lumina system, the skills and the weapons. The large focus on dodge and parries is hit or miss. It's engaging but creates further balance issues, which this game already has problems with.

6, 8 and 9 are my favorites. 12 is also pretty good. Did not care for 10 at all.
One of the dumbest stories and most annoying partys in the franchise.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also Blitzball is the dumbest ♥♥♥♥ ever invented in a video game.
Underwater handball is so mindnumbingly idiotic it actually elevates the game bit.

FF X is the first FF when you feel that it is not a pure Squaresoft game but a Square Enix game. And because of this FF IX is for me the last true FF.

I love/hate FFX. The setting and soundtrack are amazing, some of the best the series has to offer. I love the combat for being pure turn-based again. I just never liked the Sphere Grid. It feels like such a chore, having to swap everybody in every fight to make sure they get exp, then having to open the menu and actually use it.

Ironically I'm replaying FFXIII right now, which is usually considered a worse FFX, and I'm really enjoying its faster & simpler take on the system.

FF never really clicked for me, not in the way DQ8 did.

I'd say my favorite FF game isn't even a mainline entry, it'd have to be FFT or A2

9 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Literally every mechanic is garbage. The story is boring. People just like vivi.
