Anyone heard or seen if it will work yet, is it even being tested?

I want to know the same... And that's only because that means it will play on Linux through Proton.
thinking of buying it but it can be a hit or miss

I will just wait until release and see what they show here on Steam or is posted on ProtonDB.

I saw some people on Youtube playing an early build on their Steam Deck, and while it didn't look that great it played fine - looks can be up to the age of the Steam Deck now and it being an early build.

Devs have confirmed they're going to work on optimizing for the Deck after launch:

And here's a video of the preview build running on it:

It's already looking pretty stable as-is. You might be able to play the whole game on Deck at launch, if you don't mind turning the graphics way down.

Steam contacted the devs and they said they are working on it.

I will be overseas for quite some time during release so I wanted to get a handheld to still play it.
After some performance videos i watched I decided to go with Rog Ally Z1 Extreme because the framerate seems OK tier on decent settings. Plus it was cheaper than the Steam Deck.
