Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

I hope the game will feature Hard Mode... [Please Devs!]
Such a HUGE fan of Turn-Based RPGs, to see one of this scale of production leaves me in awe. I just can't wait to play it already. The overall mechanics and level of production seems to be VERY high, characters, world, music, graphic, everything seems to be top notch, and it's been a while before we could have something like this, so I really hope it shines.

My only problems with Turn-Based RPGs is that to accomodate every player (as they should) the game becomes quite easy and there are no reasons to get good equips, or good weapons and such, as you could basically oneshot bosses, breaking the momentum and the hype, ESPECIALLY if you play secondary quests as well.

That's why I hope devs are working on several difficulty modes to select from to accomodate players who wants a chill experinece or a rather challenging one where one can invest their time on, as in a Hard Mode, available from the very first New Game and not locked behind a NG+, as it would make the experience really tedious to whom wants to experience the game harder and would have to rush a first playtrough.

I'm sold. Day one purchase for me. Much hype!

From a recent interview, one of the main CEO said yes a Hard’mode will be available for the one who’s seeking more challenge. So yep there will be different difficulty mode.
Really!? You make my day! Could you post the source?

Understand your point but if they have to compromise the game to add different difficulties, or if they create them but can't really work on them and they are just inflate numbers or make the game completely brainless on a super easy mode, I prefer if they focus on a single well balanced one.

The point is, if they have to make one they'll probably make one on the easier side to accomodate every player, and that's where the problem stands for me, so I at least hope they're working on the classic 3 ones; Easy, Normal and Hard!
That's what I hope for as well. All too often turn-based RPGs end up feeling way too easy.
solution: don't implement numeric character progression at all. it's a crutch and almost all games would be better off without it

Modern Turn-Based RPGs often give difficulty modes, so finger crossed devs know what they are doing and especially don't lock behind the NG+ wall, or i'll have to rush a first playtrough to actually experience the game! aha
Hard mode not needed. Just ensure that battles require more than just holding down Circle. (Or whatever the equivalent on keyboard is.)

Including a Hard Mode(s) to begin with doesn't take anything from the normal experience. I would want to play the game at the hardest mode possible, surely difficult to the point that normal mode enjoyers wouldn't like. So yes, Hard Mode is needed.

Yes and they dont need to test and balance Hard mode very much. If it will become super hard then ok - thats what you, players, want. If its too hard for you, then come back to Normal. So Normal mode + Hard mode should be relatively easy for devs to do.
Ideally, would love to see a range of difficulty modes to keep everyone happy. Can always throw in some achievements for the harder ones. I'd probably would go to an easier setting myself so the battles didn't take up too much time, or end up having to redo parts. Although the battles look amazing, I'm more about the story and taking it all in.
I'd take a hard/harder mode of course. Just saying that the game should really make sure it isn't as brain dead as some Final Fantasies have been. *Holds Circle*

Hard mode is always better for me. I realize its not the same style of game but for example i got the new FF16 and its just stupid easy. They lock the hard mode with better bosses behind a new game +. To me that's so stupid i don't want to play 60h to than replay the way i want for 60h. Not to mention overall the game sucks anyways. If your looking for a hard turn based RPG in the meantime Refatazio is amazing and a full on free demo. If your not so much in the the JRPG style, look in to Divinity 2. That game with mods is 1 of if not the best turn based RPG i have ever played. Full coop and local coop as well.
I second this. I like difficult battles where you have to really think hard about every action as opposed to just spamming attack every turn.
