I can't help but wonder about the gigantic pink/purple abyss that opened up in the woods...

What do people think it is?

Ok, I'll go first... I think the girls have opened up sort of other dimension that's evil. Something will happen where Kat gets locked in the cabin, and the whole cabin goes up in flames despite her friends trying to get her out of there... (based on the trailers)

The leukemia diagnosis is just a red herring... My guess is that Kat dies from something supernatural...

It's the lair of a cryptid. Specifically that moth monster that Swann can carry around a doll of. It grants wishes, it seems. Is it a blessing or a curse? Probably the latter, given the whole 'curse' thing keeps coming up. You can even name your hideout Cursed Hallow or something like that.

They made a point to record it as evidence, but I don't recall them ever revisiting that footage. I imagine this is something they will dig up and try to watch in Part 2.

I can see it being something completely off from what we remembered recording to mess with us some more.

Ooooohhh, that sounds intriguing. I'm wondering what a cryptid is, though... Hmm... Yeah, Swann does have that creepy looking moth monster that she takes with her everywhere... I definitely think it's a curse. There will be some sort of price to pay.

Now we just gotta wait 6 weeks or so to learn the answer... Kinda painful, but, at least we have other players to talk to in the meantime...

Yeah, Swann says something along the lines of all the summer recordings getting lost in the move, so that probably includes the evidence of the abyss... It's gonna be interesting to see what DONTNOD does with this in Part 2...

They may very well mess with our heads some more in Tape 2! Only 6 or so weeks to go... Trying to hang on... [Deja vu, I feel like I'm reliving the waiting in between episodes of Life is Strange 2... Kinda torcherous...! Lol. XD]

Atleast it's only once this time.

Yeah doing it for all 5 chapters was brutal. I remember some of them being delayed also so it was 2+ months between some of them

I didn't think of this in my first playthrough, mostly because I wasn't a fan of the whole 'recording' aspect and largely avoided it, but you can actually watch the footage later on. It's....creepy.

Oh yeah I always made sure to watch the compiled footage once I had completed a set (Shame you weren't into this part of the game, a lot of it is pretty fun and the finished 'edit' with Swann narrating is interesting to listen to for a whole bunch of them)

I honestly think the camera gimmick is the best gimmick of one of these games thus far. It's similar to the original LiS but used everywhere instead of the rare achievement. I also enjoy that the seemingly possessed Kat in front of the anomaly ended up in my automatic cut of the best of Kat footage.

Ahh. Gotcha. Might be a memory we 'unlock' in the next Tape, especially once Kat shows up. Which she totally will, of course, there's no way they'd fake us out by making it Dylan instead of her we were waiting for. >.>

The camera mechanic, while I appreciate their dedication to authenticity, actually hurt my eyes a bit straining to see the blurry image. I also wasn't a fan of how you're forced to divide your attention between the cast and the environment. I felt like I had to be glued to that thing 24 / 7 ( which might be a fun playthrough, tbh ), which in turn caused me to miss a lot of cast interactions.

Now that I know how they used it, I suppose the next go I'll have to be a bit more dedicated to it. Darn, guess I'll have to play it again.

They certainly nailed that 90's grunge look and crunchy audio on the home movies when watching them back.
Loads of shots I took which I thought were decent during record had horrible lighting and were barely watchable on the edit

I have a feeling that the entire "Abyss" thing will be a huge plot twist where it turns out that there never was any "Abyss". The girls just got collectively drunk, drugged or whatever (hence why they struggle to remember the entire thing) and they just imagined that their wishes becoming true was a sort of supernatural thing, when in reality it was just the girls being silly and trying to make their lives an adventure before things turned ugly, monotone and boring. It was like their last ditch attempt to keep their childhood before real life hit them with a truck.

Yeah watch them for Swann's color commentary not the grainy shakycam footage, which TBF is absolutely how Swann's home footage edited in camera would look IRL.
