And as much as I like Asmongold myself and his fights against DEI, he is not always right.
You know people do the opposite right? If the game was good people would have reviewed positive bombed. There is no reason why if this game was good people wouldn’t and bought it. But people don’t, life is strange was successful but than they started to lose their audience. Why? Only degrading quality can explain that.
Games like this will almost never be commercial hits. If this is taken into account and calibrated by treating them like an indie title with a small budget, that model can work. But putting AA-level resources into it is a sure-fire way to get a studio closed.
It's 49 now, was 69 in October... seems the union had some success here.

And it's fine and dandy to not like it and complain if an established franchise suddenly goes out of it's way to check some boxes and potentially pander. But this isn't the case here. It's also from an studio that has primarily made games falling in exactly this niche.
Everyone here complaining about how horrible all this woke stuff is is basically going out of their way to antagonize others or to brigade because of manufactured outrage by whatever YT/TTV "personality" they follow.
Steam warlords in a quarter second:
There are 3 general possibilities for games that receive tons of neg reviews.
1- Game gets review bombed because it went out of it's way to entice a specific crowd and it was worth it for them to hate on it (rare cases)
2- Game had mass appeal but flopped for any number of reasons and those masses who bought it, just didn't like it. (typical scenario)
3- Game is niche and most people wouldn't waste the time playing it except for those who enjoy the genre and thus the masses never leave a review. Hence the mostly positive reviews by a smaller set of players who were likely to enjoy it from the onset. (this game)
Just take a look at MHW, it's a flop based purely on Steam reviews, but there is more to the story. 1st clue is the fact that the sheer volume of reviews suggest that it did VERY well financially (without even having to look up the numbers).
2nd, the neg reviews appear to primarily be around performance rather than the game and are specific to PC gamers. While it might look like a flop compared to this game in regards to review score, it's very easy to see how it's a financial success.
Capcom can afford to keep their studio open as a direct result of the financial profit from MHW whereas DoNotNod might struggle to do so, despite the glowing reviews.
