Game won't launch? It's just a black screen then crashes

I just got the game, tried to open and it immediately crashed? I restarted my computer, restarted steam. verified the files 5 times now. Idk what to do.

That black screen is supposed to be there bcs it's a weird hidden loading screen for the main menu
Those crashes must be an issue from the game itself, tied to that loading

Make sure you update your drivers! Mine were pretty out of date and I kept crashing as well, but I updated them and the game works for me now!

mine are up to date :/ just went and updated everything and my pc meets the requirements to run the game. I'm not even able to get to a loading screen, it's just black then shuts down

yeah but mine doesn't even load, i have no idea what the menu looks like bc it keeps crashing lol. doesn't stay open for even 30 seconds

try to force with launch arguments the graphic settings, as far as i tested it has something to do with dlss or screen type and only in w11 24h2, with 24h1 it doesnt happen, also, it happens with a 3070 but not with a 2090...and it happens more with intel than amd for what i am seeing, so 70% sure it is windows fault or some library fault

how would i do this? sorry im not great with computers. i have the nvidia 3050 and windows 11

Try to make a windows 10 virtual machine and alocate 80% of ram and double the disk space and check if it launches, if it does, probably it is windows fault or some incompatibility between your hardware and the game code, if it still doesnt launch i would suspect the cpu/graphics card combo is picky and dont like the game...

Do you have a nvidia graphics card? The only driver that worked for me was the Game Ready one, is that they one you have?

yes i have the 3050 and i believe i have the game ready driver installed. is there a specific setting i need to put to have that one on?

maybe missing prerequisites? look into game folders and look for extras installers, or download any small UE game and use UE5PrereqSetup_x64.exe (or try to search for it on your disk in games folder). I could not find the installer anywhere, but google gave me few itch.io games that mention it, this one is smallest from results https://strictpeak.itch.io/experiment-11022

Hi, found the solution looking though crashdmp and it fixed for me. Might crash DLSS later though haven't tested too much yet but game boots up now.

Delete sl.pcl.dll on Lost Records - Bloom & Rage\Engine\Plugins\NvidiaDLSS\Plugins\Streamline\Binaries\ThirdParty\Win64\
