Theories & Predictions after tape 2 *** SPOILERS ***

Theories after tape 2:

What I know based off my play through:

1. Kat and Dylan had a decent relationship before meeting Corey.

2. Corey seemingly was genuine when asking out Dylan.

3. Corey objectively is a bad Person at least with all the info provided now, Dylan can be bad too but at least has redeemable/salvageable qualities. which leaves me to believe Corey is the bad influence on her or is a cause of her bad attitude.

4. Kat clearly has a history of witch craft study before the abyss. Considering the items in her room.

5. Kat not only wishes that Corey and Dylan weren't together, She also seems to wish harm on Corey or wish for his disappearance.

6. It's implied in some cases that Corey has gone as a far as "hurting" Dylan (which could mean many things but with context sounds like Physical Assault ) which makes Corey seem less interested in the romantic incentive to be with Dylan.

7. Kat loosely mentions that Corey is only with Dylan so he can get some kind of ownership/benefit of their father's deer ranch.

8. Kat has been dreaming of releasing the deer in the ranch for a long time.

9. Releasing all the Deer in the Deer Ranch that Kat alleges that Corey is shooting for sends Corey in a fit of rage. Rage enough to burn down the Fawns Rest/Curse cabin knowing 4 girls including kat could be inside before it being possible that he's being possessed by the Abyss.

10. Kat also has had a history of wandering the forest, and had previously known the location that is later known as the abyss pit before the abyss pit becomes common knowledge.

11. Pam has claimed to see Big Foot in the forest due to the forest's anomalies but mentions it after the Abyss has been common knowledge which is similar to when Kat claims to have seen a Wendigo in the forest before the abyss was common knowledge.

12. Multiple characters point out that soon after Kat discovers the Abyss and makes it common knowledge, she begins to act strangely. I personally noticed her asking to visit the abyss a lot as well.

13. In my play through, I chose to protect Kat from Corey, Then all 4 girls stood there as Corey got lifted up and sucked into the Abyss Via the abyss's will alone.

14. After Corey is sucked into the abyss Kat gives herself to the abyss as well after saying that "The abyss is protecting us and we owe it something so we can never see each other again or remember anything that happened here because no one will believe us."

15. Some scenes you can see Kat as a silhouette in Tape 2 in both present time and past time and there's once in present time you see a silhouette of what looked like Swan, Nora, and Autumn standing together outside the window of the bar.

16. Everything each character threw into the abyss for their wish was put back into the Time capsule resurfaced by "Kat"

My theory and prediction:

1. Motivation

Kat and Dylan love each other until Corey comes into the picture. This must have shook Kat. Once the relationship stopped working out between Dylan and Corey, Corey found a solidified spot in the relationship regardless once Kat's Father offered him work with the Deer Ranch. This leaves the relationship between Corey and Dylan to be purely transactional and then turns abusive. Corey now feels comfortable bossing both Dylan and Kat around even if it takes physical force. Dylan stays feeling the relationship can be salvagable OR because leaving him is impossible because she fears her parents like Corey more than her. Kat see's Dylan as Corey's captive so she takes matters into her own hands as she turns to witch craft.

2. Attempt

Kat turns to witch craft and as she studies it she wanders the forest in her free time. She stumbles across the location of the abyss (possibly) before the abyss has fully appeared. Kat either setting up the alter-like area herself, or finds it as is, begins practicing witch craft there. Not being able to open the abyss she probably makes a constant effort to try as many days/nights that she can.

3. Attempt 2

Kat runs into the new B&R friend group. They start hanging out, they accidentally come across Fawns Rest (is what I chose for the name). At some point, Kat show's everyone her "Secret spot" which happens to be the altar. Kat convinces everyone to do a blood ritual with everyone with hopes that this is the key she needs to open the abyss. When they spend the night at "FR" Kat sneaks out to practice more witch craft at the alter to find or finally open the abyss. Swan wakes up and notices that Kat is missing and finds her at the new found abyss. Kat is officially either a different person now, is possessed, or is to some degree affected by the abyss.

4. The Plan

Kat Influences the B&R gang to have a concert with hopes to curse Corey but it fails. Kat instead influences the gang to vandalize the bar and the Deer Ranch at least as a final wish before she passes on but ends up triggering Corey anyway. That night ends with Corey getting possessed by the abyss and getting sucked into it -- thus completing Kat's main objective in the plan.

5. The Consequence

Kat before disappearing claims the Abyss will protect the B&R gang if they never see each other again and forget about the summer of 95 and makes them promies to do so. This implies that Kat knows how the Abyss works to some degree. Kat gets sucked into the abyss willingly and the B&R group splits up.

6. The Consequence 2

Autumn gets the time capsule of the summer of 1995 in the mail containing all the memories of that summer. The Time capsule contains various items that were thrown into the pit and claims to be a package from "Kat" who was also sucked into the pit or at the very least dead due to her sickness.

7. The Consequence 3

Once present day B&R (in my play through) splits up, Swan hear's "Kat's" voice call her through the forest to where the abyss is. We also see ghost/transparent images of Kat instead of dark shadowy silhouette ones. "Kat's" dialogue and tone now sounds provocative and inviting instead of her usual crass and hot headed tone. and tape 2 ends with Swan entering the Abyss.

8. Conclusion

Kat is either dead or trapped in the abyss but currently doesn't exist in the current world. Kat is not the one who sent the time capsule to Autumn. The abyss is pretending to be Kat to persuade everyone who discovered it's existence be swallowed into it's depths. My main reasoning out of all the things i mentioned above is because Kat again seem's to know how the abyss works to some degree. She also makes it very clear that B&R needs to forget and move on from everything that happened in 1995. So for Kat to draw everyone together for no reason sounds contradictory especially since she accepted her death pretty clearly in my play through. I think Kat saying that the abyss is protecting B&R is her way of not freaking out her close friends when really the abyss will swallow them too if they return to the abyss. Kat knows that after getting her wish of Corey being sucked in or "anyone who ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with B&R" she would need to give up her life to the abyss, but also knows that Nora hasn't become famous yet, Swann hasn't gotten to live quietly yet, and Autumn's request of staying close friends forever is still pending, they can be granted their wish while not having to be sucked into the abyss if they never come back to it.
The game kind of implies that Kat is alive again and has contacted Autumn to round everyone back together again, which would make sense as to why all the items the abyss took has resurfaced. However Kat has said she's still in the abyss, so she had nothing to do with the package. If she did have something to do with the package it would mean she wouldn't need help getting out of the abyss cause she would have free passage through the abyss or power beyond the abyss from within the abyss. Both those 2 qualities mentioned would be more helpful than 3 middle-aged women with no powers entering the abyss to get a 16 year old girl with abyss powers out of the abyss.
