This game failed to muster support from its target audience or rather if you ask me, it failed to read the room.

Its important to note, that I like this company and I loved the first and secound LiS games. But this game just don´t seem to cater to the same audience, it seems like a downgrade in just about any aspect..

Factor in the silly "culture war" we have..... there is just no way a game like this could attract enough players. I don´t really get it, as LiS is very progressive as well (and most of us like that and don´t mind it at all) but it felt organic in LiS.. natural even... This game does not look organic in anyway and the premise just seems odd.

I still respect the staff and their creative process, but hopefully they will understand that if they also wanna sell games, they need to read the room... In a perfect world, you could just create whatever you wanted and survive on it.. but not in gaming.. this game had a large enough budget to atleast merit 40-80k concurrent players on steam...

The original LiS had almost 20k concurrent players 10 years ago... games have rapidly more players now than back then.. but this game is still nowhere new the original LiS (that was much much much cheaper to make)

So.. LiS had 20k almost, LiS:BTS had 16k and Deck nines LiS2 had 468k players on peak......
So why did this game not take off.. well again.. it failed to capture its old core audience and its new target audience did not show up.

LiS:DE from deck nine, had a similar issue to this game (from the original devs of the series) and had only 8,524 peak players.

Its a shame, as these games are pretty awesome in storytelling and had some degree of agency back in the days, but the newer examples from the two studios are simply not targeting its core audience.

Anyway. I wish the devs the very best and hopefully they will survive and make a new game that might gather more popularity.

Its sad that this game is not selling well , but this game still has chance . When tape 2 releases i guess the actual legs of this game can be know.

Its not sad, its a good thing as it shows consumers actually dont want woke games.

That's just confirmation bias.

Huge numbers of studios have been shuttered in the last 3 years. Even more have had mass layoffs. Dozens of AAA titles have been cancelled or announced closure.

Embracer Group alone shuttered 44 studios and cancelled 80 games between August 2023 and March 2024, laying off 7,761 staff, when a $2bn investment deal fell through.

None of this has been down to "wokeness" in any significant way. Just a very crowded marketplace where even good titles are fighting each other for a slice of the pie, failing to live up to publisher expectations and being ruthlessly cut loose.

This one its pretty clear its because of forced wokeness.
