There seems to be a heavy focus here on the "female experience".
The typical tropes of ahole teen / young adult guy who sexualizes women, violent to those around him.
It's yet to be seen but I have no expectation of a normal nerdy guy coming along who you can choose to romance in the game.

The group except Swann have all had sex.

Kat seems to be on the verge of doing the same but open to a male partner.
The game gently nudges you in the direction of... "choose one these nice looking ladies as a mate" lol but it's definitely not forced or like raging anti man rhetoric in the game.
All of this is interwoven with the core of the story but these 4 main characters all have a part to play.
I think this story is a POV from the people existing outside "normalized" tropes from the 80's and 90's.
Strong healthy young man swoops in to save the day while rescuing the super hot girl next door from danger. Like all of that has been done to death and these games choose to tell it from the pov of the Nerd, Quiet Girl, The Unpopular kids, or what ever subculture you can fill in the blank with and all their struggles of being who they are.
Lesbian falls in that category because you would have been socially outcast back in those times.
