Deal with the rat

I don't know if it is something I'm missing, a bug or of I've failed that task but the rat stop comming at night long ago. I though I had killed it with the poison, but it's alive in the nightmares.

Any insight?

[update] Nevermind, I turns out that the rat just appeared again after two weeks or more without news and it's finally dead.

How did you actually kill it? I dropped an entire poison bottle on it. It vomits but still bites me.

Just keep doing it. Takes far more to take out Brown Jenkin than one bottle of rat poison.

Where can you put its body - what kind of container is needed?

Look around in Mrs. Dombrowski's house. It's not what you'd consider a "container" but it is something everyone has transported things in.

I'm not sure whether it's a bug or whether I just couldn't find the corpse. I'm very sure I killed Brown Jenkin - at least it stopped appearing in the dreams after weeks of me poisoning it - yet I never found the body...

It's possible it heals after it bites you? To be sure, keep planks handy and drain that wood in poison!

Poisoning the rat is hard, on many playthroughs I believe I killed it because he was absent in dreams, but only once I found its dead body in the room

Just where do you get the rat poison, anyway? The stores don't have it, and I can't ask anyone about it - not even Joe, who said it's the best way of dealing with vermin.

You have to let the rat bite you or explore the cave but for the best option let the rat bite you first.

Thank you! That's what was needed. Of course, now it's been four days and nights with the poisoned plank in place, but no sign of Jenkins eating it. Maybe other events need to happen first, such as the dream in the witch's attic, or something?

I think if you drink with Joe you have the option to ask how to deal with rats. He'll tell about poison, after that the poison can be unlocked in the store
