Help with the Eight stones

Hello! I'm stuck with the eight stones puzzle.

I've seen the drawings in the nightmare with the sun, the rare symbol and the octagram with the arrows. I also have the clank to activate the buttons.

So what I've tried is to start by using the clank which activates the buttons. Then I start pressing them clockwise (as indicated by the arrows) being the last one the special (the one with the rare symbol and the one that resets all the other buttons). But every time I do it, when pressing the last one I hear a noise indicating the other buttons are being reset and nothing happens.

I've tried doing it at morning, noon and afternoon (before the bad guys appear). I even make it to arrive at the island exactly at down but it turns out that's the moment the bad guys leave and I have to leave too. I don't know what else to try.

Any help, pls?

You are close! Try starting with the symbol seen in the dream (Walter should have the sketch of it it in the notes). Walter's sketch will give a hint which the second button should be. Hope this helps!

I'm too thick for this puzzle. I need another hint or if you will, the solution

Here's a closer hint:
The 8 points will form a pattern when you press the right sequence. The pattern is in the note. Start with the symbol sketched and continue with the one on the opposite side of the circle, then keep going to opposite side of circle to form that pattern. Each button is to be pressed a single time btw.
Ik that the clockwise arrows are a little misleading.

Oooook now I get it! Thanks a lot. Those curvy arrows missled me completely. And the sketch arrangement and the sun didn't help either.

Don't get what you mean. I have visualized what I do:

Press the starting one, Walter says. "I heard something."
Press 2, Walter says. "I head something but I don't see anything happening."

Now the puzzle is reset again.

The rest is numbered on how I think an Octogram is being drawn, from the starting point. Clearly, I am wrong but I just don't get it.
Either I am severely misunderstand how the shape that is asked for is being drawn or I am thinking way too much into this, I cannot solve this puzzle for the life of me.

There's one thing that could be the problem: In Walter's notes, there was a symbol of a sun. Looks like it's raining in your situation.
