Maybe look up some history on musashi. aside from direct sequels like both extellas most of the fate franchise is decently self contained.
The exception to this is oddly fgo despite that being in a different timeline and requires reading wiki entries of one offs that never released outside japan to understand some things. Thing with fate is while all of it might not be relevant at the time literally everything is cannon including the joke comics.
Jeanne alter is in this game and shes literally a paradox from a different dimensions alternate timeline.
Fate stay night written by Kinko Nasu is much better as it is the original and shows the themes of fate much more clearly. The problem is that it is so fragmented with different studios doing different adaptations and no good adaptation of the fate route.
It ruins Saber's identity, archers identity, spoils the fact that Sakura and Rin are sisters, spoils what the holy grail actually is, shows you what Kirei is and other things.
It spoils numerous other things as well that I could list if you want?
