Aperture Desk Job

Aperture Desk Job

What kind of controllers can I use for this?
It seems I can't play with a keyboard, and the only controllers I do have with USB support (Pokken & Gamecube for Switch) are incompatible. What kind of controller can I buy that'll work with this game?

Okay, so I plugged in my old Xbox controller (which I forgot I had) into my laptop, and, unlike the other failed controllers I tried, it still tells me to plug in a controller. Why isn't the Xbox controller working?

Did you connect your controller to Steam? It's in Steam's controller settings.

just a Joycons seems not work. not work as native support on steam in recent firmware seems so.

JoyCons work with Ryochan7's DS4Windows emulating a DS4 but a few things had to be configured. The ViGEmBus driver is needed.

in settings tab, set a custom exe name. restart DS4Windows from the newly created exe.
in Device Options, enable support for JoyCon.
Select a JoyCon in the list.
Link Mode: Joined.
Gyro Provider: your choice.
Create a profile that maps Gyro to Passthru, Touchpad to Passthru, and Emulated Controller is DualShock 4

Steam should show a notification when the emulated DS4 is connected unless you disabled that. In Steam settings, you should enable controller configuration support for PlayStation controllers. while you are in this section of Steam controller settings, you might want to hide the two "Wireless Gamepad" controller's.

in Steam Library, the controller config's gyro sensitivity for Aperture Desk Job needs to be increased quite a lot to feel like a normal DS4.

I've tried my Xbox One and my Stadia Controller and they both don't work. Anyone else having this problem? (Arch Linux, KDE Plasma). Same thing when trying to run it via Proton.
Both controllers work in the "Controller Configuration" window and in Big Picture mode though. I also tried to apply every config after showing other controller types in the recommended section.
EDIT: Lol it works when loading the default Gamepad config from the Controller Configuration window under Templates
EDIT 2: It only works in the main menu, bruh

I just finished it with Logitech Wireless F710 no issues. Gyros or sensor pads aren't required to complete it, just thumbsticks.

Spoilers for those who haven't played the game yet:Since the DualSense doesn't have back paddles, the sequence near the end of the game where you have to press all four to rocket yourself up to Cave Johnson's office is emulated by simply pressing L1, R1, L2, and R2 simultaneously.

^This is all I was looking for. Most controllers have NO BACK PADDLES, so couldn't figure out what would trigger them in the game. Thanks yo.

Same here. I can't figure out how to bind ZL and ZR to L2 and R2.

I was able to use a cheap third party PS3/PS4 style USB controller without the gyro functions just fine on the Linux version. The controller probably cost me less than $10 on eBay. Didn't have to do anything special to make it work either, just plugged it in and played it.
