How to survive?
As soon as the New York part of the map opens up, I´m basically dead. It´s impossible to defend New York when they land 12k (6k British and 6k German) reinforcements. From New York, they then move north and take all my cities.

what i did, on normal diff tho, i took the 2 forts next to NY and tried to kite the british into smaller more winnable battles....

but i also think the british simply get to many troops from overseas and should rely way more on local militas as the unit is in the game but i rarly see it on the campaign

also dont be afriad to lose cities or entire states, i started a campaing on hard and keep losing stuff, but the british will spread out and by that will be easier to defeat when i concentrate my forces

I moved all my professional troops to New York and engage the 1st British landing as soon as it arrived wiping them out. Then the Germans came a few days latter wiping them too. There are several more landings within 3 months after the first. So always have atleast 5k troops around New York and 3-4k around Boston. It's expensive but selling the loot and resources you get will keep you afloat.

You can also just give up NY and garrison New Haven and Ft Montgomery with a few thousand men each. Usually the AI will be happy to stay in NY.

This whole dilemma is very historical and I like it from that aspect. Washington I am sure was asking exactly the same question: How do we survive this?

From the prologue "The War that made America" Fred Anderson.
"On July 3rd he watched helplessly as thousands of Redcoats disembarked on Staten Island. By the twelfth another 150 sail of naval vessels and transports had arrived, bearing 15000 more troops. This brought Howe's strength up to about 25000 men, almost twice the number under Washington's command. No one needed to tell him that they were also far better trained, equipped and supplied than his own raw troops".
Seems the Developers have being doing their homework. Keep it coming I say. Breath of fresh air.

they get way more then 25k from sea reinforcement tho.....like i played on hard and i think i got 3 times a naval invasion of some 5-6k soldiers plus idk 5-8k in total spawning in canada, on top of that the NY invasion (about 12-15k?)....i mean my problem with that is simple, they are all regulars/german mercenaries (ingame) which seems to me a bit over the top....why not use the milita template thats allready ingame.....thought on this?

like i think a third of british troops in NA were loyalists, they were not really british regulars, worse equipment, worse training --> militia

The question is, which difficulty should be the most "realistic". If 15k are reality, what difficulty should it be assigned to? Normal? If so, easy has to to have less troops and hard more than that. So it is hard to say the Brits need to have so much or that much troops, when we have different difficulty settings.

no no you misunderstand my point....i am saying they should get less troops via sea, like less regulars and more via spawned in militas....

they can still get endless amounts for what i care its just that i am only fighting regulars and miss the loyalist militia part.....thats what i mean really

obviously different settings will have a different amount of enemies with different stats....not arguing this part

I am at the exact same position now. The British rushed in an took a lot of cities and forts in NY, which I now must recapture, whereas at the same time I am faced with multiple uprisings and lost forts throughout my land, due to low loyality, which I can't keep high enough, due to taxes, which I need, because I am always out of money and because I am always out of money, I can't afford to build newspapers erverywhere, nor do I have the money, to garrison each city, which leads to more uprisings. Additionaly 4000 British just landed in the north, where I have basically no troops, which leaves me yet again in another precarious situation.
