book shelf not working

i know this part. ive played it before. ive seen it played. ive looked up walkthroughs.
and i cant find jack on this. but when you get home and you go to your bedroom there's that bookshelf you can mess with. i go to it slide the books over to reveal the button and the button isnt glowing and i cant click it or do anything with it.

It's a known pc port bug. You have to restart from the last savepoint

i had the same problem, im running on windows 10 version not w95 aaaand fixed the issue by leaving the interaction with bookshelf few times while smashing my left mouse button in the place where the button was located while youre in the interaction (i hope you understand what im trying to spit out).
apparently it has interaction for a split second to open it... at least for me... i hope this helps someone in 2023
