Some tips that may help

I just downloaded the game - it's a mess, so I went digging for some fixes, and here's what I found.

Downloading the fan patch here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Silent_Hill:_Homecoming, and extracting it to your Homecoming game directory will help.

You can play with the v-sync settings in your GPU control panel, but using the above patch should get you to 60 fps. Be sure to run your game as an administrator to get the best results here.

I'm using an Xbox One controller, and all I had to do to get it to work was install the fan patch above, and turn vibration ON in the in-game settings.

Doing those three things has me running the game at 60 FPS, with full controller support. Obviously, your mileage will vary between PC configurations, but I hope this helps some of you who may be trying to get a higher framerate and controller to work.

What did u download exactly just the unknownprojects patch or other stuff too ?

I only downloaded Unknowproject's patch. I didn't use X-Padder or anything else like that.

ok thanks i did the same game was perfect up until alex hell house did the 4 puzzles to unlock the door then every time i try to go through the door the game crashes to desktop during the loading screen :( never mind after some retries it finally worked and i went on to beat the game with out any other problems

A directx crash on loading screen happens because of missing flag on device creation. It was fixed in 2.03 pt 1 update that I'm not supporting like all previous cuz they're cumulatevily improved by the latest 2.50 prerelease/3.0D versions. Disabling loading screen and running the game in windowed mode is enough to make it crash free even without any patches.
