What game are you talking about you dork? I do own the original Silent Hill along with the sequels, and here we're talking about the desire to have a remake, but you don't seem to share the same wish, so you should get off our backs and get out of here, period.
If you haven't done it yet, go check the RE2 remake demo on youtube, and see if you still have the guts to go around telling people that you can't remake a classic you bloody ret :)
How on earth would you remake Silent Hill? That's a serious question. "Oh, but look at Resident Evil! If you can remake that, you obviously can remake Silent Hill!"
Is it really that simple though? Let's look at the facts, shall we?
RE and SH are miles apart. Besides the tag "survival horror", they're literally two completely different kinds of games.
RE is stressful action horror, while SH is disturbing psychological horror. That's not up for discussion.
RE has a certain type of protagonist, no real developed character traits. They're soldiers and capable of using fire-ams, they can even aim with crosshairs!
SH has a certain type of protagonist, with well developed character traits. They're average Joe's incapable of using fire-arms correctly, they can't aim and crosshairs are certainly out of the question.
Starting to get a clearer picture here?
IF you're gonna remake SH, you NEED to keep your protagonist an average Joe with zero combat training. That's just how SH works!
Also, the somewhat archaic presentations of the older games worked to their adantage. Tank controls excluded..
There's no way you could up the action on these games, because we're still talking psychological horror with combat being scondary, almost optional!
Of course you could remove combat entirely, but look at SH:SM, the running and hiding got tedious after a while. And stealth is NOT a way to go with SH, since "some" combat and boss fights are pretty mandatory.
Another thing about survival horror, which the REmakes (mostly) keep intact, are the lack of autosaves/checkpoints. Because survival horror + autosave = syntax error.
If you respawn the exact same place you died, it's not survial anymore..
I really wonder how today's kid generation of gamers would respond to this sort of gaming. And I don't mean that in a condescending or offensive way.
I'm genuinely curios!
So, please tell me exacty how you could do a proper remake/reboot of the SH series, while staying true to the series' roots? And the presentation/mechanics that makes SH tick?
Remember, the scariest parts of SH were actually when you were isolated and alone, with no-one around. Not even monsters.
That's a completely different kind of dread than running frantically from zombies, or worse things..
You can remake whatever you just mentioned here if you really plan to, those traits are still possible in modern games, if you ain't interested just get the ♥♥♥♥ out of here and stop making up excuses.
If you're not interested in a serious conversation, go play ocd. Ups, I meant cod..
Also, you are the troll and childish one here, throwing around with stuff like "Go play COD."
Do I really need to report you or anyone here or this thread? No? Good. Please keep the conversation topic related.
No you didn't, all you've been doing is making up excuses, simply cause in your opinion "you can't remake a classic" many classics have been remade and got much better, especially in terms of graphic and controls, SH is not less than these, it'd actually benefit from a remake more than many other successfull classics that have been remade, so one thing is that Konami will never make it, another is that it cannot be made, there's a very thick line between the two. And if you wanna know I hate COD, war games, and shoot them up, but you might like them, have them a go and quit trolling in a thread you don't seem to be interested in.
