Just do not play it with patches for 60fps, i got it to crash consistently on a cutscene after beating Scarlett
Then certain audios are playing on Mono instead of Stereo and you might need a patch to fix that
This. Greater stability and it appears to be the only way to make the map function normally.
I was looking this game up again to see if any fixes or mods were done to control and map being cut off. It seems there is! Will try them soon but here they are if you would also like to use. The video I have seen show this does in fact work and fix a lot of things.
I will be installing game again soon and trying this out. Seems a lot of things were fixed.

On Playstation 3, that is.
At one point I wrote an quick programme that allowed you to set the key mapping, because it does not save to the config file in game, only to save file. So if you start again, or flip to an older save, the mappings are reset. But that no longer works on Windows 8+.
Bottom line, if you have bought it, give it a go, if you have not bought it, get it on a console instead, it works fine there.
