[PATCH] Silent Hill Homecoming BIG Sound FIX

Finally, I've found out how to fix all the sound bugs on all audio system types from Stereo to 7.1 in Silent Hill Homecoming!

No more wrong sound mapping on the Surround systems!

No more "80% of the sound plays from the right speaker" on the Stereo systems!

So let's begin!

First of all, this game has TWO major problems with the sound.

The Problem number UNO

This game absolutely hates non-5.1 surround systems. It has been designed to be played only on 5.1 Sound Systems.

The Problem number TWO

Ok, you can say: I have the 5.1 surround system, and I want to play like a GOD!
Suck my binary code! - This game will answer.
Even if you have 5.1 it will not save you from the troubles, because this game has wrong sound mapping.
What is this mean? E.g., when the game engine plays a cinematic video clip, all the sound is shifted to the left, so a voice (which must sound from a central channel, sounds from the left channel, the left channel sounds from a rear left channel, the rear left channel - sounds from a subwoofer! (sic) etc.
I've done a big investigation and work.
The Result - is this big patch.

If you play on the 5.1 sound system - your problem is solved at this stage!
But if you want to play on the stereo system, you must move on to the next chapter.

How to fix sound on the Stereo systems

When you play on the stereo, 80% of the sound is reproducing from the right speaker. This happens because the game can't perform correct downsampling from the 5.1 to Stereo (it looks like that KONAMI doesn't give a sh#t about beta testing, at all).
So the only solution is to trick the game with a special sound driver.

The Recipe is:

1. Install my BIG Sound FIX to correct the wrong mapping in the game audio files
   
2. Install a special driver, which can give an illusion of the 5.1 sound to the game and convert this sound to Stereo for your sound system at the same time (realtime operation)
   
3. Config correctly your sound settings after installing the driver

   After installation, you must open your sound devices setting and choose Razer Sound Device by default.

Hi.
Thank's for the patch.
I installed Razer Surround Driver v1.05.26, then sound disappeared.
I went into the settings of audio devices and chose my default sound device. It is good works. Sounds, music, voices become much better .
I have questions:
If i will choose my Sound Device by default, does it mean useless Razer Surround Driver. I need only install the Sound Fix? (I have a stereo).
Can I install a new (any) ver. Razer Surround Driver?

You need to install BIG Sound FIX in all cases. Because it doesn't matter what system you use (stereo or surround), sound panorama is misplaced by wrong configured game sound engine.
Then (only for stereo systems) you need to install Razer driver to trick the game to make it think you play on 5.1 system.
If you have a digital output on your mother board or soundcard (and your stereo connected to analogue output) you must disable the digital output in your sound devices settings.
Default Sound Device must be "Razer Surround Audio Controller."
You can make a screenshot of your Sound Devices window so I could tell for sure.

Nice, it worked flawlessly - the fix for 5.1 speakers.
The only problem now is that it created more frequent stutters & fps drops whereas before, stutters and FPS drops never occurred for me.

Oh man thanks a bunch, been wanting to go back to this game again because the urge to play anything Silent Hill has been hitting me and sadily until Downpour get's a port if it ever does this is all I have to turn to right now. Now it's in a somewhat functioning state, now just to find out if I'll be plagued by the countless other bugs or if I'll be one of the lucky ones.

Does anyone know how to fix a crash that when you go back into Alex's home after filling the gas can or whatever you call from the trunk? It's been bugging me for some time.

I think great this fix. But was one problem. The correction don't get apply to headphones, only to song boxes.
I can fix this song problem on the headphones too?
