Silent Hill: Homecoming

Silent Hill: Homecoming

60 fps smooth game faster loading
My brothers, i have done it. 60 fps smooth game play and faster loading, not patches.....

You open "vars_pc.cfg" in the silent hill engine folder and change the following

fps=true
fpsLimit=60
maxFPSLimit=60
ScreenRefresh=60

Then save it, now right click the slient hill exe in the bin folder and go to properties compatibility mode and uncheck every box, every single one of them. and finally you tell steam to eat a ♥♥♥♥ and close it down and run the game from the exe.

This is what i done, and my results are night and day.

Nothing new. I've patched the engine code for 144fps btw. And I know that fps is unlockable through cfg file ONLY FOR Indiana Jones And The Emperor's Tomb (earlier version of Slayer Engine), not for SHH.

didn't even know there was a patch? awesome might have to look into that. as for my method, no patch needed and it runs great.

No. Editing config is useless. It does't work and anyone knows about it. You CAN'T change fps without modifying game code. Engine completely ignores higher values and rewrites main config file anytime you start or continue your game. Patch was made by me but I know nothing about Steam release. Google says that steam release marked as US-only. I have international/europe release on physical dvd purchased about 9 years ago.

Well i dont know what to tell you mate, but i was having a serious time trying to get the game to run the way it use to run when i bought the hard copy of the game the day it came out years and years ago and it has always been on steam for me.Ii actually had my copy removed from steam for some unknown reason, I aussme it happen when the game was taken of steam because when i hit steam up about it theuy asked for a picture of the cd next to the book with the cd key showing and a hand written message that they supplied, long story side on thatside i actually bought another hard copy off mighty ape year later after a new pc change.

ever since then its run ike crap, bearly playable but after doing this it runs much better whether or not it's hitting 60 frames i dont really care, my game is running so much better i had to share it.

hence my "This is what i done, and my results are night and day" phrase. it's like you dont believe me when I say I had this experience with my game. personally, I don't really care if you do or do not but how about we leave the capslock at home....

I have the physical release as well and it's really just the Steam release atleast for me. You install from the dvd and it's same as installing from steam, except obviously dvd install is faster due to the media being right there.

Hey, man, how did you make the game run in 60fps? I followed your instructions and I couldn't make it. And I missing something?
professor dodge Jan 31, 2018 @ 11:25pm
@Dollmaster, I guess thats what me and Unknownproject were talking about, i can't say for 100% thats it's hitting 60frames, the animation and models dont look like they are, I say 60fps smoother gameplay because after how it used to run, it wasn't even 30 fps, i go as far to say bearly 20 fps.

after doing the same as me was there any improvement??? was it running very bad before? because when i first got the game it ran sweet as on steam, then one day it just stated runing crap, back then i was running a 8800gts, 4gig ram and a q6600 at 2.4ghz

his rig now being at it's last hurrah of it's life cycle is a 760gtx 16gigs ram and a I5 4670 at 3.4ghz. so there is no way it couldnt handle it. but finally at it's core Unknownproject is right, it doesn't run at 60fps or atleast the animations of the character models don't look like it

i know 60 fps work without patching and modding........, 2 years ago i had it too 60fps, but now i change everithing, but i cannot get over 30 fps....

Uh TC, how can you not be 100% sure if the framerate is higher? You do know you can just turn on a framerate display with Steam and other recording software, right?

YES! After all these years, it's finally uncapped. Thanks a lot, man. Now, we just need to fix the map so we can play it properly in 4k.
