Hello, does anybody actually has censored version of this game?

I remember only australian version. They just changed camera angle to hide bloody stuff.
Australian and german version, and not only that: https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=5975621

The censored verion got additional detop downloaded called 19007 Silent Hill Homecoming LV Content https://steamdb.info/app/19000/depots/

But because I have normal version, I can't download thet depot
Konami blocked a lot of countries for buying the game anyway. We - in russia - can't review it. Only buy via our russian retailer Buka. I have all versions of the game and they are identical from byte to byte.
I have installed the game and live in Australia and have no idea how to check if the game is censored. (Did we get the LV depot?) I also have it on 360 (Xbone BC), where is the first instance of censored content (and please be early on) I can't do any finisher attacks to the nurse characters if that's something you can do in the uncensored copy (though I only have the knife, near the start of the game) I can decapitate the enemies I first find after getting the steel bar.

It may be LV but only for Germany, Konami may have simply not bothered with AU for the PC release (like NecroVision) but there's no way to tell unless I play far enough to the drill scene
or father death scene I guess.

Man, what an old post. I know a lot more stuff now :)
A lot of info comes from Steam DB [steamdb.info].
Silent Hill: Homecoming id is 19000. It has 7 depots (Depots are parts of a game, so there are 7 parts).
19001 through 19007.

19001 is almost the hole game. Like 99%. Only two files are missing.
19002-19006 are language files. It downloads the missing 2 files:
Bin/g_SilentHill.sgl
and
Engine/default_pc.cfg

default_pc.cfg is just a text file with some configurations. The only part different is just language line, where it is spelled English, French etc.

g_SilentHill.sgl is a binary file, and it is identical to all languages except German. This is the file that tells if the game is censored or not.

Finally there is 19007 depot, witch is LV (Low Violence) content. It only has one file:
Bin/g_SilentHill.sgl
which is identical to German one.

So the game first downloads the main 19001 depot,
Then downloads one of 19002-19006 language depot,
And finally - if you own it and it is necessary - steam downloads 19007 LV content, that just overrides g_SilentHill.sgl uncensored file with censored one.

German version is already censored, so there is no benefit to just re-download the same file. But if let's say in Australia it is censored it will download main 19001, then uncensored English 19002 and finally 19007 witch makes it censored.

You can change languages in steam menu, not in game, and it just re-downloads these 2 files.

So if you have uncensored version, and want to play censored version:
1. You can choose German language, and it will download censored version.
2a. Then you can just save g_SilentHill.sgl file and re-download English version, and replace it with censored version.
2b. Or simply open default_pc.cfg file in notepad and change language option back to English.

If you already have censored version and want to play uncensored:
(I mean who owns 19007 depot and it overrides g_SilentHill.sgl file)
It is a little bit more complicated. You can download owned depots manually. So you can download only let's say 19002 depot, witch is English version. This is before Steam downloads 19007 LV depot and replaces g_SilentHill.sgl file. If someone wants tutorial how to do it - tell me.

There are 2 methods to check if you have 19007 LV censored content:
1. You can check g_SilentHill.sgl hash value (hash is like file DNA - every file has different hash, even if only one byte or even bit is different. But if the files are identical - bit by bit - hash value will be the same too).

this is SHA1 hash algorithm:
censored:
bb82aaa2e7c066bb39c2c7ee7dc2d0a59bb287df
uncensored:
1c124f57a34404fb4293824d869659fdea1a5ef3

You can check it with any app or even online like here [emn178.github.io]

Or you can simply log-in in Steam DB [steamdb.info] with your steam account and check if you own 19007 depot.
Steam DB is very known and respectful site, so it it safe to log in with your account. It just checks what you own.

It would be interesting to see if some one actually owns 19007 depot. Maybe Australians?

BTW I put g_SilentHill.sgl into checksummer and got compeltely different numbers to you (censored or uncensored) in either case, but I am using UP patch and have 2 .sgl files

Oh it looks like you have to have also installed SteamDB extension for your browser.
Then go to this page: https://steamdb.info/app/19000/depots/ and see if you got 19007 green.
This is mine [i.imgur.com]
I don't own 19007, so it is not green.

Well if you are using patched (a.k.a. modified) game files, then these are not original steam files.
You should change language options, to re-download original files.

maybe they only bothered to censor the console releases here, the pc release is a bit thrown together anyway.
ill continue to play and if the cutscenes are indeed censored like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6LTeEYSuXg) I'll let thread know
seems to only be in germany i suppose on steam
i don't think i've ever gotten the violent QTE exections apparently on human enemies mentioned in the "movie censorship" page either way, i don't know if they're even in the game tbh. i've cut nurses heads off, is that a "human enemy"?

btw the game is absolutely terrifying well done double helix

At this time you can only get censored version (not including German language), only through some CD keys. If you bought it online - it will be uncensored.
