Controller Support: To enable, use XInput and go to the controller settings in the game options. Select to use the controller, rather than mouse and keyboard, and press Escape to exit the controller configuration menu. The game will now be XInput compatible.
You're not dumb at all. :)
Homecoming is a glitchy mess, so you always have to find different ways of doing things whenever it decides to bug out on you.
Another thing you can do if you don't want to use Stream Controller scheme, is to open the controller config file for Homecoming, and manually set up your controller. Since you'll be saving it to the data file itself, you don't have to worry about your controller setup going AWOL ever again. :)
The file is called: binds_pc_mjs
It can be found under the folder 'Engine' in the Homecoming folder.
Thank you for the tip! The preset Gamepad config worked well enough, but, unfortunately I ended up abandoning the game because...I couldn't get over the sound issue. Most sound effects would only play through the right side of my earphones. Of all the bugs I had found a work around to, that one tiny issue defeated me! I just annoyed me too much. I ended up watching a Let's Play of the game instead. Never played the game, love Silent Hill. So I at least wanted to see how it played out.
