Keyboard button prompts showing up blank

As the title says, my button prompts are showing up as blank squares/rectangles while I'm using keyboard controls. Plugging in a controller makes the prompts work normally but the issue persists after I unplug it. I'm using the default controls, and the button display option is locked to "automatic" with no option for non-console prompt displays.
