Fishermen dropping bait and more
#1 Havn't seen any other posts about this so it seems strange its been happening so consistently in my game. Every time a NPC goes fishing they drop all their bait on the dock when they change task from active fishing. what's also kinda bad is they will grab 100 bait at a time to fish with which means there's 100 bait rotting on the ground every few hours. this happens with different NPCs on different docks and persist through saves and restarts.

It is on a new custom world setting. let me know if you need more info to try and recreate.

also we should be able to add task to fishing dock to have NPCs just make bait...

#2 I've lost metal tool parts when they break because inventory is full, I'm assuming the NPCs do the same. They are definitely losing tools somehow, tool parts should drop on ground if inventory full.. I have the metal collection basket and NPC set to refurbish metal axes but slowly lose them. I've found an axe head out buried in the snow as well as nails that were hidden below the surface. And every time i craft nails, lets say 50, and i need maybe 10 to finish some buildings the NPCs will grab all 50 and then just drop the left overs??? NPCs should pick up valuables off the ground since they fall below the surface and can't be seen with scan.

#3 I've had villagers freeze to death at night during winter while in their cabin with 1000 firewood in storage. Why?

#4 Ya'll need to add a food/thirst consumption adjustment to world setting. I know, I know, its the one thing that takes up 75% of gameplay just eating 100 steaks every day. But once people catch on to 'this is the whole game' they will quit. yall arnt the first to do this and yall wont be the last but its old and lame. I also don't think that it scaled with the longer day and season adjustment. so the thirst and hunger would drain at the same rate but the days were much longer meaning you have to eat a ton every day. this break immersion for me, freezing, starving, standing by a fire, not working, just ate 3 steaks, starving, freezing. like what??really

can confirm, latest release fisherman do not fish whatsoever. Ive tried swapping npcs, taking their rods and giving them back, changing bait and even moving the hut. The npcs will just stand there, cast a line and real it back in immediately without doing the fishing mechanic. They drop their bait all the time and complain about not having bait even though its right there on the ground. I have no idea how programming works but serious how the heck does a single update break a single job that WAS working before, and not break all of the jobs? makes zero sense to me.

I have noticed as you survive a long time many of your people just stop doing their jobs, cook won't cook, farmer will stop getting rakes as needed, fisher throws bait everywhere. i have started reassigning people to different jobs and they seem to work fine. not sure if them having a high skill in the job just turns them off of it or what. Definitely needs more work.

+1 FIsherman really do need a fix Asap, I was wondering why our food supplies were that low... Went to the fishing dock to see around 200 meat bait laying on the ground and no fish even tho i had 3 fishersmans ( 2 fishing house) And yes we have a blacksmithing making fishing rod and they all had 1 equiped.

Thanks for this information and for flagging the fishing issue everyone. I have reported it to the team.

Victarion - I will also get your other bugs reported as well, thanks. I'll come back to this thread if I have any more questions or need anymore information on anything listed above.

I've found that what makes them drop the bait on the ground is when they craft more bait than their inventory can hold. Then they just kind of leave it there.

This is driving me nut! The Fisher is of no use as is. He takes ALL the bait I've made and just drops it on the ground... leaving it to rot of course. Then he goes on creating new bait that he treats the same way. Making endless bait that goes to waste and catching no fish.
I've had to set up rules for him so he doesn't have access to bait-making materials. It solved the endless bait-production, but NOT the throwing away of all the bait I then have to make for him.

Wish we had a hotfix for this. its very annoying.

Hey folks, this is a known issue and we know its super annoying. It's not an easy fix (to do with the fishermans AI behaviour) and its something the devs are looking into. Thanks for your patience while we do that!
