As before, the reddish-tinted walls on the cave can be mined with stone pickaxes.
Thus, you can begin by mining the walls, gather enough iron to improve your tools, then get the richer deposits.
If your folks aren't mining at all, check their status via the villager menu. Their storage may be full, which will be indicated in their individual status and the "settlement issues" list, and if they're lacking torches they'll list it in their individual status and articulate it when they're running around. " I need torches to mine" or something like that.
I'm not sure if manually placing torches in the new wall pillar receptacles will remove this "need" from the villagers or not.
Hi, this is a bug that occurs when a villager has a lower tier pickaxe and a higher tier pickaxe in his inventory at the same time. It will cause him to get stuck harvesting a cave wall forever. The issue will be addressed in the next update, in the meantime please avoid giving your mine workers low tier pickaxes.
