Ratio of farm plots to total villagers?
Anyone able to give an estimation of how many villagers one 4x4 plot of berries can feed?

Its my 3rd try about 20 hours in and i extended day length and maxed out year length since I m not yet savvy enough to survive 1st winter. Hoping it will be easier with those settings.

I rushed buildings to get a farm ready by day 8. With 2 gatherers and 4 markers for food i still lost 2 villagers to starvation. I probably extended too fast.

My farms is ready though with two farmers working one 4x4 plot of flax, same one for berries and a third half onion half garlic.

I don't want to recruit more until i know if my farm is enough to support more villagers.

Any tips welcome on topof the ratio question. Really struggling here :)

I really don't know but each of my farm plot is 3 x 5 started with only 1 plot and 2 plots,, 3 plots when I had 2 farmers.. one by day and one by night. I fish until I got a fisher, picking mussel from stone and beach, cooking 3x with 1 garlic and 2 water.. feed them good

forager flags everywhere, make sure you have enough hunter markers and fish is near enough to be gathered or delivered, farm make as big as you can (16 plots) I do all onion on 1 garlic on 1 flax (year round) on last one, beets during winter where you have onion and garlic. Don't remove previous plants on any of em.

1. 4 Foraging markers? It supports only 2 (3 maybe) villagers including you.
2. You have to provide the cooked food, but not raw food. It means you need the cooking house.
3. Berries? I am not surprised you have starvation situation. You need raw red/fish meats to cook. You should have Fisherman's hut or hunter's hut instead of farm in the early game.

Check this guide in Steam.

The fishing hut is a big one. I should have built it sooner.

I am limited on foraging because of a wolf den and draugr cemetary to my north and east.

Should I destroy their spawners? I assume the ribcage building thing I can attack is a spawner?

Killing those will cause something to spawn. Don't want to ruin the surprise.

You can't prevent respawning of mobs at monster locations.

How about in iron mine cave? Do the bugs respawn there?

Yup, every other day, and they'll chase your villagers out of the cave. So if you have a cave in or near your settlement you'll want fences and a patrol flag at the entrance.

i think this has been changed. i still haven't cleared my cave completely, byt once to clear a room with spawners in it, they don't seem to come back in there. also putting up the wall torches might be part of that as well. i've killed at least one big crawler, but i'm thinking there's another one, or more farther in, still have a good bit more to break through in my case.
Berry farm is no way to keep your villagers fed. You need a cooking house cranking out soups made of meat and veggies. I only grow berries to let them rot in my inventory to make compost out of them. I'm not sure if it's efficient to rely on them as a food source. Even before I had the cooking house up I was doing grilled meat and veggies on a campfire. Also more food flags, each time you go out looking for Jotuns blood, aim to set a new food marker, and if you see any deer or bunnies, place a hunting marker right where you saw them. You don't even have to build it right away, just mark the spot. Once your builders have some free time, they'll build it for you.
If you eliminate the spawners in cave. They stop spawning.
I killed Fenrir and the wolf spawn is now grey on the map. I think wolves stopped spawning too?

Agree - I believe it's a year before they come back. Game now kicks a warning when they come back, although if you blink you'll miss it.

To be clear, this doesn't include cave spawners. So far, in my experience, once those are cleared they're gone.
