metal parts bin in warehouse

There is a basket at the metal work shop if you do not have a metal parts bin in the warehouse. You can also put them in the basket at the workshop bench.

add: I will note that if you have workers with metal tools, you will want a metal parts basket in you warehouse so the worker can put broken tools in there for you. Workers just drop them usually or have it in their inventory.

Not looking at the work shop bin as that is not a specific bin for them that just covers work tasks in that hut.....I will check the metal parts basket to see if that works

There is in fact a bin at the work shop specifically for already crafted iron parts like the plate or bar. You shouldn't instantly throw out other people's suggestions just because you think you know better--always verify that you're actually correct when someone says something contrary to your knowledge or you'll just look like an idiot.

As for the broken tool parts, in "advanced production" there is a "Metal Parts Collector" you can build where villagers will place all their broken parts without the need for a warehouse. It's small, cheap, and quick to build.

I already built the warehouse while I was building the metalworking shed. Wish I had looked harder and saw it, I would have built that instead of rushed bins in the warehouse.
Thank you!! Next time. ;)

add: just an iterating side note, once you do get a warehouse worker and the bins you want , the worker will take everything from the workshop bins. I know I can ban them but then what I do want in the warehouse I will have to move. I so wish they would make it so that when I have something in the workshop bins they would leave it alone. Any ideas?
Such as ore/bloom and charcoal, I try and keep the bins full in the bloomery and metal shop. The ware house worker empties them. I have to go to the warehouse and get what I need to craft. My inventory is only so big.

In your warehouse you can adjust the number of items they can store per bin and if its high priority or not. I find lowering some things helps keep the shops fuller. Tho as far as bloomery unless you have full bins ALL the time it's almost impossible. I'd love it if they would white/black list items not just people.

Whitelist/blacklist on the items would work great. I could blacklist my baskets.
