Villagers not using in-house storage
Hey all, just a quick question. I came back to Aska since the august update and started a new save with a few light modifiers in the new custom world thing. Everything's running great and i only notice a few little things that don't seem to work too well, but I mainly noticed that my villagers don't put anything whatsoever in their houses. They used to practically hoard food and even just random items or tools they weren't using, and now I can't seem to get them to store anything there.

It didn't seem to change much so i just shrugged it off as a bug, but now it's winter and they also aren't stocking their firewood storage or tending to their own fireplaces. Sorry for the longwinded breakdown, but was curious if anyone else has had this issue so far or if i'm an idiot and missed an obvious option somewhere?

Thanks in advance!

Same issue. Since new update they will not store food. I'm just getting to winter, but I assume I'll have the same issue with fire wood.

Previously they hoarded all food.

Ideally, I'd like to have control over whether they put raw, cooked or both in their storage.

so far i feel like i am the firewood fetcher for all of my cottages lol. i hope in the future we can give villagers directions to break up any and all stumps and make it into firewood and bring it back to the village. i basically put 2x firewood containers in each cottage. and it disappears faster than i can stock it . . . i dunno where . . . maybe if they are a cook or the guy making the charcoal they keep stealing it and taking it to work.

There is a workaround we (4 friends and I) use to address this.
1. Place 5 food and firewood in their storage ( or amount of home users + 1 )
2. Stagger the home users leisure times. (H1 = 6 to 7, H2=7 to 8, H3=8 to 9....)
3. Have a warehouse close with food , water and firewood only and later on clothes.
4. Keep the warehouse well stocked.

This will force them stock the containers with the type of items that are in the containers during leisure times, and staggering the times will prevent a que and give a higher % that someone will restock it if its low.
They will collect it from the warehouse and if the home is empty there is a warehouse close to grab from.
The well stocked is due to the warehouse workers "stealing" stuff from other containers too.

I agree that this issue in the logical and logical overrides (AI rules) need to be addressed.
We are starting to learn the logic and overrides but it ain't consistent for all stuff and its a but hard to study and address.
I also suggest we have a restock building later on where they take stuff from warehouses to restock containers that are marked for stocking and those containers and to be touched to fill up a warehouse.

Sidenote : The prestock and force fill is also a way to assign a warehouse container for a use.
Want a berry only container ? Add 1 berry to each slot, they will fill each slot to 20 berries , check on it to make sure nothing else gets added as villagers use it.

Same issue here. I've been playing non stop for a bit over a week and will stop playing and wait for a patch to address this specific issue. But I don't wanna stop, haha

Hey folks, sorry to hear this seems to be an issue! Please do pop in a bug report when you get the chance in the subforums, the more information you can provide (as per the pinned template) the better! Hopefully we can get this looked into asap.

Thanks for the replies everyone, at least glad to see it's a known issue, and thank you to axeblade346 for the workaround, will have to give that a shot, that's pretty clever. I tried the same a few times in a less planned way and i didn't notice them trying to restock it, but I'm also near the end of a long day/long season winter with this current issue and it's been pretty touch and go hehe. Almost through though! As long as your town isn't huge it isn't a big issue because they end up just going straight to the source for food wherever it might be when they get hungry. In some cases I think it's actually made them satisfy that need faster lol.

To the one about to go into winter, don't worry, it's not as bad as i thought it might be and I got through my winter with 26 villagers, 2 hunters, 2 gatherers and 3 farmers going ham on beet cultivation. The hunters are what make the magic happen in the winter though I think. Keep the markers plentiful and your meat racks should practically always stay full with a couple hunters.

And to ThunderfulPaige, no worries! I will try to log a bug report later today. For what it's worth, you guys truly made the dream game I didn't know I wanted and I'm super stoked for whatever comes next in Aska, but even in it's current form it's a great balance of genres executed with an attention to detail I can seriously appreciate.
