I've got hardwood logs off the small iron axe. I upgraded a couple of building with hardwood before I created the larger version of the iron axe.
I read somewhere that the willow isn't used yet, maybe that's old info? If it's current info, maybe it'll do something in the future?
Think I'll just put it in my hut on the weapon rack until it become obvious why I need it.
(Pre-Aug 2024 update , with cheats to speed up skilling of villagers and players)
___
1H iron axe vs 2H iron axe
Willow tree = 2H , same items as Birch, just more logs depending on skill.
50 Woodcutting , 50 Melee = 15% (14.97) to mobs and 15% (15.09) to trees -- about the same at 20 skills and 80 skills.
Swing speed = 10% slower on 2H
Thus you need a 2H Crude Iron Axe for Willow trees , it does about 15% more damage but at a 10% slower action time, it averages out to about a 6% faster tree chopping. Recommendation : Only use 2H for Willow and clearing out large areas of trees in the day. Rather go 1H + Torch/Shield.
Test more : Check damage to mobs vs Battle Axe versions and swords.
___
Devs : Check these numbers in the code and perhaps buff the damage % a but more.
