one request i think would be great for the game, in helping players to understand what is going on. this might be difficult, but would be great to be able to open the interface for workhut etc, and see a stream of what is being done. so for instance it might be something like this for a workhut stream -
- villager x has collected 20 bark from woodcutter hut 1
- villager x has converted 20 bark into fiber
- villager x has made 2 rope
- villager x has made 1 flimsy shirt
etc etc. just a long stream of everything that happens. and this would be for EVERY workstation. and also would be great to have it for EVERY villager. it is asking a lot i assume, but so much of this game i am just guessing where various resources are actually going and who is doing what with them.
I never set up any production for fiber though and instead rushed flax farming, so if there's some kind of "ghost order", that might be it.
Also, make sure to set your woodcutters to not create fiber either. Honestly there should be some "Don't do this unless global storage is X"
I doubt that's hard and something like that probably already exists internally.
It's also an excellent idea... That would have saved me a good half an hour of prowling around trying to figure out who was stealing my bark.
I did that very early on and I agree, there should be a better management system for the rules. You can do quite a lot of complicated stuff with whitelisting and tasks but most of the time it feels like I'm figuring out a way around how things work and what I'm doing should already exist.
Oh yeah, i agree. A global management system is needed. Setting peoples schedules, focus of entire industries (i.e all my X woodcutters are disallowed from crafting fiber in this cirumstance). Hopefully we'll get there in a few updates or so. If we're lucky there's enough talk about these things that they'll give the next update that focus :)
Atm the following is an issue:
Any workshop worker will steal bark if an order needs rope / fibre or stuff crafted with it.
Bark > Fibre > Rope > Tool or Bark > Fibre > Linen > Clothes seems to be the culprits They will take ropes and fibre and make ropes even if they already have enough ropes.
@ DEV (Possible reason for bug) : It seems to be if they need 20 ropes for 20 tools and have 10 at workshop they will take 10 ropes from warehouse AND bark to make 10 ropes...
---
Do not Set your stick priority as high for a woodcutter that has access to a warehouse with logs / long sticks. They will steal them and make them into sticks.
---
A builder will "steal" from a workshop if the feel like it will take the closest item to them in the following order, Warehouse, Gathers hut (wood / stone) ground and then a workshop.
Other times they wont touch rope even if all building need it and the workshop has a lot and has no recipes that can or may use a rope on order. I hand crafted ropes and put it in a workshop bin to test, if I add 1 rope to a warehouse they all of a sudden start taking it from workshop
(Logic limited ? If its an a warehouse = Take from anywhere vs not in warehouse = do not take from workshop) .
___
They will steal stuff from containers in homes for self use. Mostly just food. We need doorlocks...
Or a whitelist/blacklist per storage instead of per workstation. So we could lock the crafter out of the bark storage but granting him access to sticks, etc.
