Well Rested - Sleep, you can see the progress on the screen.
Well Fed - Eat food. Berries, Mushrooms, Mussels etc
Well Hydrated - Drink water, Natural Collector, Wells, Water Collector etc
With the buffs above i'm able to work and sprint quite a fair bit before needing to pause.
There might be some more but again, I haven't progress too far.
Best tip I can give is spam Z to use the "search function" it literally highlights use-able resources and enemies. The highlight works better at night than day.
Using this you can comb the shore for "mussels" which will keep you fed and don't collect everything in one go as it spoils in your inventory.
Get the healing hut up before winter if you cant fast track clothing. That sickness debuff absolute NUKES your stamina and if that is a contributing factor to your complaint, I could totally understand the frustration. You can bypass it by assigning someone to the healing hut to beat you healthy whenever you get sick from being cold in winter. Otherwise, nope, you can't even fell a tree without getting winded and that truly does get annoying.
and ...
Roads! just roads, everywhere, all the time!
With the Chief's buff I could sprint like 98% of the way to the second cave village before out of stamina. Way more than 4 seconds.
Also, I think it is mushroom soup that gives the rested / energy buff so that helps too.
Oh and you can check my video in Aska to see the distance for yourself. (I actually go from third cave to second and then on to main village at first cave) (not sprinting but .. yeah)
- The beds for NPC are OK for early game
- Get the Chieftain's House ASAP. This will provide a longer 'rested' buff and it also slowly heals you up.
As you progress it gets easier. You level up your weapons and skills which make tasks easier and use less stamina. You get access to better foods that provide a small buff.
I can't remember off the top of my head if the stone statues provide a stamina buff (maybe?)
And then you also can build roads which greatly reduce stamina use when running on them.
