Iron / Leather Armor & Weapons Question
I've been playing for a while (100h+), currently strolling down through highest custom difficulty and it's not very hard, got all regular iron weapons & tools, most villagers have full clothing (thick linen / fur / pelt).

In the info panel for blueprints I saw there are more types of armor (sholders, iron, leather) and shields (reinforced ones) but I can't seem to figure out how to "unlock" them or have them as a craftable option in game.

Has anyone figured this out or am I doing something wrong.

If you hover over the items it will tell you what you need. You are probably locked by the crafting skill. Some of the pieces require really high crafting skill to make.

for gambits its craft lv 49, then higher it goes to 79 crafting. I'd suggest finding a mass craft method and go hardcore on increasing your crafting level.

Neither of you understood my question ... I don't even see Gambits as a crafting option ... it seemed I had to upgrade my Workshop to lvl 3 (House) in order to even see Gambits, then create a dedicated Workshop (lvl 3) with Improved Weaver and Metalworker to be able to craft it, quite annoying.

So I guess that answers my question ... managed to craft it now so all good.

Just wanted to say you don't need to have the 'Weaver' and 'Metalworking' extensions on the same workshop to craft the higher level armors. It makes more sense to me to pair the weaver and leatherworking extensions together, and the metalworking and carpentry together.

This is exactly how I had it ... weaver + leatherworker and metalworker + carpentry, but it didn't allow me to craft it with an error "You need improved weaver" then after building it (with leatherworker still on) it said "You need metalworker" ... so I had to demolish my leatherworker and build a metalworker otherwise it wouldn't let me queue up the work order.

I tried deleting the metalworker after creating the work order but it didn't work ... maybe it's a bug in the game ? But it doesn't allow me to automate the production unless both Weaver and Metalworker are present ... so currently I moved Leatherworker to a new Workshop

The metalworker can produce the higher tier armors without weaver attached - they just need the weaver to produce the linen (and thread) needed. So, set task at weaver to make linen and thread (10 and 6 respectively I think) then metalworker will craft.

edit: oh, and the leather (cured right) - the Weaver/leather workshop set tasks for all that. Then the Metal/carpentry can pick those up to craft the armors.

the workshop combos don't really matter as long as you have tasks setup and everyone is making what's needed/has what's needed.
