Stonecutter doing nothing

Hello,
I noticed that stonepit was always empty, I started following the stonecutter and he just stand in front of a stone doing nothing.
He has stoneaxe so no idea why is ....slacking
I'm doing sumt wrong ?

Does he have the right kind of pick? A bit more recently there was a change where the starting pick only breaks the small clumps (and the smaller fir stumps) and you'd need the second version of the pick or better to get the bigger clumps of stone. Admittedly I usually don't staff my stone cutter until a bit later because my typical hunt for jotun blood early game tends to make me the default stonecutter, but at the very least, my woodcutter will tell me if they need better tools to do their job so I assume the stone cutter should as well, but maybe they didn't.

edit: also worth asking if you have enough stone flags as well? They could be equipped right and just unable to find stone in their designated areas. (If unsure, talk to the npc. usually whatever complaints they have, like a lack of proper equipment or an inability to find resources in designated areas, will show on their general info screen).

What RequeimsRose said. In addition, you can set your crafting villager to ONLY make the large versions of the axe/pickaxe.
